I have gotten quite a few no's in my time. I think when you take the time to talk to the person, find out their story, they'll take interest in your's and ultimately will say yes when you finally get around to asking to take their photo. I believe I come off as passionate about what I do and explain that I just generally love photographing people.

Just for contrast. In photoshop I used an S Curve for global contrast and on his face I dodged/burned just a little. Small amount of high pass for sharpening.

yes, just one. the max output is 640ws. I think was at 1/2 power, so 320ws.

It starts with lighting. Most people assume it is all post processing. There is post processing done but it is to adjust contrast and color tone. I do my best to get my images right in camera and then I use photoshop for some tweaking.

Pretty much. I'll approach a stranger, talk for a bit and then ask for a portrait. With this one though, it wasn't on the spot like my others in the past have been. We planned for another day.

You're probably right. It was huge in my kids opinions. We had fun that day, I don't think they've ever seen a sunflower before. It was at a pumpkin farm.
