That's fair enough, we'll be adding an about page shortly which should clear some things up. Definitely not an Instagram clone though :)

Black Caviar wins 21st race; set to take on the world by andrewinmelbournein australia

You're right, Hay List has been the only horse to test Black Caviar however in all of the 5 times they've met it's never really been that close. Hay List is the 2nd highest rating sprinter in the world and if it wasn't for Black Caviar he would be our best. Heck, put Hay List in the Golden Jubilee next month and he'd win (if he wasn't recovering from injury).

And yet the pommies still disregard her as a champion. Wait until she goes to Royal Ascot and beats their "b-grade sprinters".

Oh wow, didn't know this. I guess in the end though it's another hurdle that scammers may not want to go through.

Alibaba have really come a long way since a few years ago. I was involved in importing from a company who was listed on the site about 4 years ago and it looks like now they've got a few different safety measures in place.

Obviously if you don't do your due diligence it can be risky however theirs a few steps you could take to minimise any risk. A company on Alibaba can opt to be "A&V Checked" which is essentially someone from Alibaba visiting the factory and checking out their business licenses and other documentation. Look out for suppliers who have this on their page. Also, back when I was involved the main payment option was Western Union which is extremely risky. Nowadays Alibaba implemented an Escrow payment which means you don't pay until you receive the goods.

Then there's the whole "Gold Supplier" which is paid membership to the website. Gold Suppliers must be authenticated & verified by a 3rd party which basically eliminates anyone looking to scam you out of a quick buck.

Like any online community there are the scammers & untrustworthy individuals however most are legitimate businesses looking for a new source of customers.

You could look into importing a product from China in bulk then reselling. 100 MP3 players at $5 a pop, resell to friends, family, flea markets, eBay etc. at $10 each and essentially double your capital. Just an example. Here's a good read of something similar.

For what it's worth it's a picture on Instagram. What's strange is that it looks like OP has added a filter to the image to class it up.

What good/bad business ideas have you developed and abandoned? by rocketreligionin Entrepreneur

[–]matagascar 0 points1 point ago

I've mentioned this before in another thread: A few years ago I had an idea and acted on it. It was pretty simple but no-one at the time had done it. The idea was to sell USB drives in retail outlets and each drive came with storage in the cloud. Basically: an 8GB USB drive combined with 50GB of online storage.

I thought it would have worked due to retaining the customers through the cloud aspect of the business, marketing to them and up selling them to more online storage. I got as far as importing the drives and getting the hosting set up, but the business ultimately collapsed after a cease & desist. Could it work now? I don't know - the price of storage has dropped significantly and getting online storage is essentially free.
