Currently experiencing good anxiolytic results, supplementing with... by locsterin Anxiety

[–]locster[S] 0 points1 point ago

Niacinamide is one of the things I've dropped now I'm taking Mg citrate, but prior to that I found it to be the one thing that worked consistently - say for about a couple of years now. But it's not brilliant, it takes the edge off. When I first started taking it I had a great couple of days and then went into a deep depression, I stopped taking it and then came back on more slowly and I'd been taking it ever since with, as I say not brilliant effect but good enough to make a big difference to my life. No I didn't ever get headaches from it, but it may be a combination effect with the Mg or something else, (or else something specific to your own genetics/biology).

I'm taking 150mg of Mg as citrate 2 or 3 times day, it seems to kick in pretty fast and calm me right down, but sometimes it's too much if I actually need to be doing something and I just feel so relaxed that I can go right to sleep. I'm also keeping a very close eye on my blood pressure as the Mg has brought it down quite a bit, which is good, but it's now right at the low end of healthy.

Have you tried adding vitamin c to the Mg citrate? I'd recommend it at large doses? - say 2g/day.

I probably should have added that I've actually come off a lot of those since the Mg citrate started working well.

I actually run 10km once or twice a week and find that it makes anxiety much worse for a day or two afterwards. I think it's due to magnesium depletion as vigourous exercise causes loss of some minerals (including Mg). Anyhow supplementing with Magnesium citrate seems to have solved the problem for now (have only been trying this for three weeks though so will see how it goes).

I've been meditating for almost 3 decades now, that's one reason why I'm able to get by, but it's not a cure, it's a means of managing the condition. It's important to understand the distinction between physiological and psychological causation - the two are of course typically co-dependent, feeding back on each other, but I figure one is usually the root cause.

It's worth mentioning magnesium then as it's not always included in a BMP, but they can probably include it if you ask.

Hi. Please see my comment to the submitter regarding Magnesium deficiency.

This is quite commonly caused by magnesium deficiency, as is agitation and anxiety. I'd recommend supplementing with Magnesium Citrate (avoid the oxide as it's poorly absorbed - absorption is typically about 25% that of the citrate form).

Common != sensible. Steroid will tend to suppress the immune system (or subsystems of it anyway) hence in your cases such as yours the steroids /may/ be helping overall but are probably not without deleterious side effects then put the balance between overall benefit and harm into question.

Hang in there dude, things can get better. Some questions - Have you always been like this or did it develop over time? What medications are you on and what have you tried previously? Have you tried any vitamin/mineral supplements?

Mineral deficiency causes anxiety by uneekfreekin Anxiety

[–]locster 0 points1 point ago

I have very little formal training in this area, hence I'm not clear what you mean by H0. My understanding would be that in the absence of evidence we can still define a set of alternative hypotheses and assign each of them a probability, e.g. (1) Mg increases anxiety, (2) has no effect, (3) decreases anxiety.

With no specific information the probability of (2) is higher than (1) or (3) essentially through application of Occam's razor (we have no reason to believe there will be a correlation), but (1) and (3) do still have non-zero probabilities. The default position is therefore to consider all non-zero probability hypotheses, not just the one with the highest probability.

Hah! I tend to apply Occam's razor where there is absence of evidence, hence any madcap theories involving lots of complexity are assigned low probabilities. Which is the long way of saying that I am not using this as an argument in support of any of the traditional major religions. The probability of any of them being anywhere near the truth is vanishingly small.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

There's some debate regarding the absorption of the various forms of magnesium, many cheaper supplements are Magnesium Oxide, but there is some research that suggest that Citrate and Gluconate are better absorbed.

How much are you taking? I understand recommended total intake is around 300-400mg per day.

Neutrino 'faster than light' scientist resigns by Phinneganin technology

Thats odd, I attended a talk recently in which a Phd student working in this field stated that neutrinos have an incredibly small mass (actual figure unknown) but nonetheless have mass and therefore travel at every-so-slightly less than the speed of light.

Hi. Did you read the post? They give me a much greater quality of life by reducing anxiety. As it happens a bunch of other ailments have also improved - fatigue, allergies, poor complexion, tinnitus, my eyesight is fine but it actually improved this year (according to an eye test), blood pressure is improved in the optimal zone (gone from typically 125-130 systolic to 110-120).

I agree it's a lot, I've been systematicaly researchign anxiety and it's possible causes for many years, this is what I've currently pared the supplements down to, and I will likely try to find what dosages I can reduce and possibly eliminate, but I've already been through that process several times over a number of years for most of those listed, so I'm happy to report these as a supplements people with anxiety might want to look into.

That you have to ask what they're for suggests to me that your anxiety may not have such a significant impact on quality of life as it does for myself and some others on this subreddit - there's a spectrum.

Researchers have turned to maglev technology to catapult a payload hundreds of miles above the Earth to LEO. by spsheridanin technology

G force = acceleration. Acceleration x time = velocity. A longer track gives you more time.

Hence the passenger version requiring a much longer track. In fact this distinction already exists with rocket launches, without passengers higher G forces can be used and this makes launching payloads cheaper. This was one of the downsides of the shuttle program.
