I would like to catch them in a lie because I suspect that they are lying. If I just let them retake it then it's like I am giving them a second shot for just missing the test for no good reason (against my policy).

I do not have a copy of their test, hence the no evidence they showed up. However they claim that they "handed it in." But I keep the tests and scantrons in separate piles, so I would have miraculously had to lose only this person's test and scantron.

If he actually DID get poked in the eye, don't you think his natural reaction would have been to immediately grab his eye...instead of, you know, waiting to see if he missed the shot?
