I did find an iOS app meeting my needs (thanks for responding I should have updated my post). GoodPlayer. It does indeed let me browse to a SMB share, and stream/play AVIs in that folder.

I was looking for something I didn't need to install a sharing app on the PC, and this does it.

Comment from Canada here, so I may be misunderstanding how voting registration works... can't voters be registered without any party affiliation? It isn't like anyone would be registered to vote Democrat or Republican (or 3rd party) right? You're just making sure they CAN vote in the future.

It seems like a great idea to me... if you've got people basically just being there, it is a great way to make use of the time in a practical way.

There's tons of comments here disparaging the value of voting, or saying voting doesn't work. Well it doesn't work great, but it has some impact. There's no downside to at least helping enable that bit of good that it can do. Complaining that the system isn't perfect is a cop-out.

There'll never be a perfect system. Work to change the system, and work within the framework of the existing system too. I think there's good recent evidence that not voting can have very bad consequences.

There's some speculation why nuclear in general is not more popular... Rod Adam's blog has some interesting anti-nuke examples... http://atomicinsights.com/ ...but MSR / LFTR was non-commercial when funding was cut (while IFR still received funding).

It was mostly a political decision to kill MSR research, but I don't think it was an example of energy companies trying to maintain the price of energy.

Test drove a Volt. Seemed fine, I was mostly disappointed by the lack of a middle seat in the back. Hell of a fine place to rest a coffee cup, however.

Gripe: Why are all EV vehicles so ridiculously "green" in the front-dash LED displays? A swirling green orb to tell you how efficient you are driving? Pleeease... a line a bar a polygon... not an animated GIF in my frigging CAR.
