Sony bought Minolta. So that makes sense.

Zeiss makes it for all bodies. So that also means it's enough to own a Canon or Nikon.

If Sony had more lenses in its lineup, I might've actually gotten one. After all, Minolta made some great film SLRs, so the base technology is there. Though I'm afraid they're going too far into the gimmicky end (10FPS but no sufficient buffer to elegantly handle it, HDR filters, etc.).

I have a T2i as well. And... I like prime lenses (as opposed to zooms). The kit lens is great for "here, you have the camera and you can use it" but... your next step is investing in a lens "or glass, as the hip people say".

Ever since I got my Canon 50mm ƒ1.4, that's what's on my camera 80% of the time. Having a cropped APS-C sensor, it acts like an 85mm lens on a full frame camera. It's incredibly fast, it's very well built, it's dependable. The only thing to keep in mind is that fully open at ƒ1.4, the depth of field (DOF) is very shallow. This means that it will only take a picture of the intended subject, everything else is blurry.

Also, I used the settings to cap the T2i's ISO at 3200. Anything higher is too noisy for me (makes the picture look grainy).

The rest of the time? The Tokina 100mm ƒ2.8 Macro. It's a fantastic lens for everything form portraits, wildlife to macro.

Very rarely do I use the 18-55mm kit lens, if so only because I really need the wide angle indoors. But then I often need to use the flash (I never use the built-in flash, I feel it just makes my pictures look like I used a point-and-shoot camera, but others may feel otherwise).
