TROPHY CASE

#72 - Man with doll by ctron3in PictureChallenge

[–]krizutch 1 point2 points ago

Its all opinion. My opinion is rooted in reality. The other opinion is drawn from imagination. Its your choice. Were all entitled to our own opinion but were not entitled to our own facts. Fact of the matter is....... This isn't "interdependence". I appreciate the conversation and art is always upp for interpretation until it but up against fact.

The straw you are grasping for is still so for out of reach! The doll wouldn't exist if not for the man? WTF? This isn't "take a photo and make up an entire backstory to make it fit the topic".... To top it off, when I called this out on your page a few days ago you made no mention of this fabricated story. Way to think of it a few days then push the narrative.

Maybe you should... It would be the only submission that qualifies in my opinion.

Looks like someone's face to me. I see no bass nor audience. Words shouldn't be needed to describe the photo.

I don't see how this in any possible way displays interdependence.

Last time this came up people wanted me to cite examples... So now I am citing as I go. I know it will take awhile and maybe just that its being called out on a regular basis people will stop trying to sneak things in. Perhaps challenges need to be more specific going forward.. Perhaps they should have duel themes like "red" and "post-apocalypse" or "pencil" with "revenge"... That way its harder to just ram these square peg photos into the round hole challenges without actually going out to execute the photos after they are assigned. If you have to show revenge but a pencil needs to be somewhere in the shot odds are you have to somehow create that shot or attempt to photoshop in a pencil which will get caught.

Intertwined perhaps.

Uuuhhhhhh... Yeahhhhhh. Ok so funding for bridges isn't collected by cars unless its a toll road. so even if this were a toll bridge that required people to use it to fund its maintenance that's still a bit of a stretch for me. Also, if the bridge didn't have cars it wouldn't receive wear and tear it would just sit there so the bridge isn't dependent on cars. The bridge would actually do just fine without cars. If that was what you were trying to show you should have taken a photo of the people paying the toll and the bridge... At least you would have been closer. I see no interdependence in this photo.

[–]krizutch[S] 1 point2 points ago

Yeah... Its a tough call. I tried to make some suggestions but there were some arguments made against them. I feel that it would have to be judged by some sort of voting panel that can be trusted. How you get that panel is beyond me. Perhaps get a sponsored tie in to a photography magazine with prizes and allow them to judge? Who knows.

[–]krizutch[S] 1 point2 points ago

Loose interpretation is one thing... Completely off topic is another. As I understand it people are supposed to be seeing the topic, then going out and shooting the topic. What's happening now is people are going out and shooting stuff then getting on reddit , seeing the topic and thinking "ah , I can name it _______ and it will fill the need for the topic" that or they make a comment in the comment section explaining why it should work..... If the photography was half as creative the bullshit excuses I've heard...

Hmmm... So the EXIF data is lying and you are telling the truth? Like the photo. I don't think it displays anything about interdependence

[–]krizutch 2 points3 points ago

This is one of those things that is a nice photo but doesn't have anything to do with "interdependence" (Interdependence is a relationship in which each member is mutually dependent on the others.). You could make the argument that the man needs the doll but I don't buy that the doll needs the man equally. Also, this was posted just a mere few hours after the challenge was posted.... This is a prime example of someone posting a photo they like recently took that loosely fits into the weekly challenge.. Not buying it under these rules. I do like the photo though.

TIL that Bill Cosby spoke out against giving the death penalty to the guy who shot and killed his own son. by bnghle234in todayilearned

[–]krizutch 7 points8 points ago

People with blue eyes don't have their own TV stations, colleges, styles of clothing, ways of speaking, scholarships, movies, shows, music, lingo, foods, cars, shoes, alcohol and cigarettes. But even if they did that's fine, where the problem would be is if people with blue eyes got on the case of other people with blue eyes for "acting like you have brown eyes". The counter culture of black Americans that once gave them power, rights and the ability to make in in America has dwindled down to a culture of consumerism, blame, the goal to be famous over educated and look down upon anyone else who tries to do so.

[–]krizutch 14 points15 points ago

This is very important. I don't want to spark a race riot but the black community has some real issues and the larger part of that community tries to make having these issues "cool". Black Americans like Bill Cosby that stand up and say "Enough is enough, start acting civil, take care of yourselves, take care of your families, and stop blaming other people for your problems" are vilified by the black community. The whole acting white thing is ridiculous. It's not "acting white" most of the time it's acting responsible, learning proper grammar, fitting in with the community around you, educating yourself and striving to be a better person, trying to give more to your children than you were given and treating everyone equally..... In many parts of black America, this is considered "acting white" and it is looked down on. Many black people look down upon Barack Obama because he is just "acting white" because he educated himself, tried hard, and speaks proper English because a "real nigga don't be fuckin wit no white folk. A real nigga be stayin tru tru to his hood. A real nigga don't be pullin no Bill Cosby shit tellin other niggaz how da be treatin folk. Dat nigga Cosby need ta shut da fuk up". It's an awful shame that more famous and respectable black Americans don't step forward like Bill Cosby and and speak up about the ignorance in black counter culture. LeBron James, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Laurence Fishburne, Will Smith , Beyonce, Oprah, Omar Epps, Rihanna, Derek Jeter, Tyler Perry, Michael Jordan, Maya Angelou, James Earl Jones, Neil Degrasse Tyson, Morgan Freeman, Venus Williams, Ken Griffey Jr, Don Cheadle, Kobe Bryant, Jamie Foxx, Usher, Denzel Washington, Magic Johnson, Halle Berry, Mos Def, Dave Chappelle, Lenny Kravitz, Levar Burton, Danny Golver.... Where are these people. All of them "act white" by trying hard, succeeding, speaking with proper grammar, educated themselves beyond street talk... These are the people that need to stand up behind Bill Cosby and should have come to his side when he was lynched by his own people.

You still don't know how large it is. I wonder what the magnification is on this shot. I remember learning when I was a child that human eggs are about the size of a period at the end of a sentence in a book or slightly smaller. This photo makes it look they are the size of a marble. This should help you get a better context of what you are looking at
