Why can't HiRez let the Gladiator "missle" instant-explode on ground/wall contact? by schnagin Tribes

[–]kraemahz 0 points1 point ago

I dunno, I think it's potentially viable. There are several maps (kata, xfire, drydock) where the flag stand is within striking distance of an indoor area, meaning the BRT could play stand harassment and retreat into a more defensible position.

Be redditgifts' first engineer! by kickme444in blog

Even the first line of Wikipedia seems to disagree with you there. Engineering is fundamentally a creative process by which technical knowledge is applied around motivating constraints to make new things.

Perhaps you don't feel software development is an engineering task because you don't understand what goes into it. APIs are not just put together, they are designed within a set of constraints to minimize their memory footprint, maximize their efficiency and to produce logical hierarchies of structure which modularize their components and make them as reusable as possible.

While we might find some point of agreement that simply plugging APIs together that someone else wrote is not engineering, anything that can really be called software development is an engineering task.

You pretty much have to grin and bear it on pubs. You'll get a lot more support if you play a PUG.

Keep in mind that as long as you are constantly aware of incoming cappers and move into their path to block them, you don't have to stand directly on the flag.

Point out everyone causing you problems (especially spinfusor/mortar/snipe spam) and try to be a little annoying the VFS if it seems like your team isn't helping, sometimes they'll get the message.

The only thing that needs to be done to the Jackal to balance it is to reduce the ROF to something where it would be nearly impossible to hit someone with all the stickies before they can react.

The damn thing could set up 2500 damage traps for all I care if it took 3 seconds to fire all the rounds.

The way the weapon is now a Jackal Inf can kill anyone on the enemy defense faster than they can reasonably react with a combination of melee and jackal bombs and then smoke away and do it again.

Edit: Some competitive players have mentioned they don't like the jackal because airburst impulse lets infiltrators act as chasers/cappers. I'm not certain that's necessarily a bad thing, but impulse is certainly not the focus of the weapon and it could be dropped.

The key in a legal context is the proof of intent. Since he was making a minor modification to the bill and then reintroducing it back into the supply it would be a difficult case to argue his intent was to prevent reissue.

Right, that is the most well-known depiction of it.

I figured the added imagery would make sure it wasn't forgotten. It is definitely very brutal. Sorry to have made your lunch unpleasant.

Flares for blinding snipers and avoiding missiles like the old flares. Missiles would need some buffing for the second feature to even be relevant though.

Why wasn't there a skin for the Brute update? by rgzdevin Tribes

[–]kraemahz 8 points9 points ago

Premises:

  1. They definitely have a salaried staff for art assets who are working on something else.

  2. There was no map update in this patch either.

Therefore I'm going to guess they're working on 1-2 new maps for a map pack in an upcoming update (perhaps prepping for ranked seasons?).

Also, they probably couldn't come up with any Brute concepts that fit with the class and weren't campy disco references.

The term is "curb stomping" after the practice of forcing a victim's face down on a sidewalk curb and stomping on the back of their head, breaking their teeth, jaw, and possibly spine.

Staying Alive -- Brute Update by kpvwin Tribes

[–]kraemahz 4 points5 points ago

The updates to the RDR and the INF are both as effective in defense as they are in offense.

The Jackal makes the INF an incredibly effective cap denier. The RDR is all around the strongest duelist, but the plasma gun is not well suited for stand clearing; it's actually a much better defensive weapon.

The current state of pub games has not been caused by the updates.

Rocket turrets with a DMB style rocket that automatically begins targeting anything within sensor tower range. Buff the sensor health so it cannot be sniped out so easily.

Then shouldn't that sentence then be "X-rays frequency are too high to be produced by Cherenkov radiation."?

Cherenkov radiation isn't caused by photons, it's caused by electrons expelled from fissile material travelling at near c through water, moving faster than the velocity of light through water.

"science fiction" that does not involve plausible extrapolation is more appropriately called fantasy.

For more than a decade, scientists have tried to improve lithium-based batteries by replacing the graphite in one terminal with silicon, which can store 10x the charge. But after just a few cycles, the silicon structure would crack and crumble, rendering the battery useless. Not anymore. by God_Wills_Itin science

Battery life improvements have been driven by power consumption reductions in all the internal components. Things like processors and RAM were not originally designed to consume as little power as possible.
