That worked completely flawlessly. Maybe notepad is being weird and putting hidden characters in there breaking the batch file.

...Never mind. So I copied over that file to the directory I was working in. Changed the name to ipconfig.bat (as I have been using) and it stopped working. It appears that when I have ipconfig as the file name, it breaks the batch file. If I change the file to 'my_ipconfig.bat' it works fine. Should having the file name be equivalent to the command cause it to break like this?

http://i.imgur.com/bhJxt.png pops up when I run the batch file, it doesn't close. When I close the CMD prompt manually, it creates the file but with nothing in it. This is with creating the file using those steps.

Edit: If I edit that file to change ipconfig to <ping 127.0.0.1>, it pops up and has the 1><file.txt> just like before, but after the ping finishes, the window closes and writes the ping to the file.

I've tried it multiple ways. Opening notepad, writing it there, saving it as a .bat. Saving it as a .txt and changing it to a .bat. What encoding did you have it set to when doing the save as? I tried all 4 (ANSI, unicode, unicode big endian, utf-8) and all 4 gave me the same result, or the command prompt would appear and immediately disappear and no file would be written.

Depends where you are. My girlfriend is a sixth grade teacher at a pretty wealthy school in North Jersey and the parents are fucking nuts. They throw tantrums when the kid can't bring home in class assignments home. At home assignments are written at a much higher level than the in class counter posts clearly indicating parental "guidance." It goes on and on, the parents are worse than the kids.

I was just making a joke. I'm all for spending a little bit more for quality food, but damn that is a lot of cheese. I still skimp out on things though.
