I agree with almost everything you said. I disagree with this:

He's clearly sorry.

He is clearly not sorry. He never apologized (unless there's an update since I last checked at work). He never showed any remorse at all according to the judge's viewpoint.

After the Crash: How Will People Live and Spend in the New Economy? by MIIAIIRIIKin Economics

[–]jrkotrla 5 points6 points ago

some of my favorite things in the WSJ come from the comments section. It amazes me how out of touch with reality some of these people are:

  • "...lower [housing] price ranges ... less than $350,000"
  • "...homes in these area [sic] run the full gamut of pricing and it’s at their lower price points – below 750k and below 1Million that we are seeing more of a recovery"
  • "What will rents be in 20 years? It is just plain crazy not to buy at these fire sale prices and the lowest interest rates in history."
  • "the American Dream is in a coma on life support as we slowly become European. I will not buy a house when I know that Washington can and will undo my best efforts in their endless quest to buy votes with the money of its productive citizens."

This one echo's my sentiments:

What Frank and the other NAR shills fail to comprehend is that the dynamics of the workforce have shifted dramatically in the past 20 years. This is a global economy now, and the likelihood of a young individual or couple staying put at the same job(s) in the same city, state or even country for 10 years or longer is far lower than it was decades ago. Whereas homeownership was seen as a foundation of stability and the most important investment for the future for a young family in past generations, in today’s and the future global economy it will be increasingly perceived as an anchor. Buying a home you can’t sell in a few years if the need to move arises not only makes no sense, it also could be financially devastating. In this economy, mobility is your most important asset. If you buy a home, you give that up.

I want to talk about seat size and type? by Freshtilldeathin bicycling

[–]jrkotrla 5 points6 points ago

duck duck go

easy way: go into a reputable bike shop. They should have a device for you to sit on that will give a close range of sizes.

I would not suggest grabbing random people's asses and guessing the distance between their tuberosities

[–]jrkotrla 12 points13 points ago

you have bones in your pelvis called ishium tuberosities (spelling is definitely not my thing) that are also called "sit bones". get them measured so you know what size saddle you need.

once measured, get a firm saddle. gel seats squish your ass.

with a thermometer you carry around with you? the coffee was so hot if you dipped your finger in it to gauge the temperature, you'd get a 3rd degree burn on your finger.

I really want to see you temping the food you get every day, every meal

Did you hear about the woman who's coffee was so hot it caused 3rd degree burns on her thighs and groin area? Did you hear about how she had to have skin grafts? Did you hear about how she originally asked only medical damages and McDonalds refused?

I know you heard about the Jury's award. Did you know why it was so high? it represented the amount of increased profits McDonalds expected to receive from coffee sales for ONE DAY from their practice of brewing coffee at an unsafely high temperature (higher temp, less grounds required).

Did you hear that the judge reduced the award?

dude, you should totally write a letter to Aswath Damodaran, PhD at NYU's Stern School of Business, and let him know that he's been wrong all these years teaching a semester long valuation course.

he should just tell the students to open a web browser and look at the current stock price.

Are federal student loans the new housing bubble to burst? by Joeyfingisin business

I also attended as a non-traditional student (re-entered at 28). I'm of the opinion that the vast majority of 18 year old HS grads are NOT ready for college.

I think making it more culturally acceptable to work entry level jobs for 3-4 years would be very beneficial. give people an opportunity to discover what working is actually like and, maybe, stumble upon something the truly fascinates them that is more substantive than "comparative religious studies"

lender should be preparing a statement I suppose at least by semester/quarter that shows amount advanced under the master promissory note, the amount with fully deferred interest, the amount with deferred payment, current balance, etc.

I think it would be acceptable if future students could then go to college for free

then I want a check for all the student loan payments I've responsibly made. another example of liberal politics punishing people for behaving responsibly.
