Amazon finally dropped the RAZR MAXX to $169 for new contracts to stay ahead of Verizon by Technogasmsin Android

[–]jonnybryce 0 points1 point ago

In their defense I must ask, isn't the retail price highly inflated? Older phones will be $599 retail at Verizon years later (Samsung Stratosphere is a Galaxy 1 from Sprint, for example) and Verizon has publicly stated they don't like the high subsidies they must pay for iPhone. It seems like the iPhone retail price is the only true price, or else any Android phone would have a subsidy just as high from Verizon's point of view (new contract price vs retail price).

tl;dr: The contract-free replacements are $600 just because Verizon can make it that and people have a right to be pissed...I think.

Verizon Will End Unlimited Data Grandfathering If You Buy A 4G Phone From This Summer Onward - Time to switch carriers by aesamattkiin Android

[–]jonnybryce 4 points5 points ago

This is what we signed a contract for and stayed on board for while everything around us changed. Had we known Verizon would go back on unlimited data, I wouldn't have renewed with them.

Plus $30 to me has always meant unlimited. It doesn't mean 2 gbs. If that's fine with you, then go for it.

Mockup of what new iPhone might look like if it has taller 4 inch screen by SpaceSwordin iphone

If they minimize the bezel it'll still be reachable with thumbs and the device itself won't be much bigger. Plenty of Android devices have done this.

Sony Xperia ST26i Spotted In The Wild, Has Capacitive Buttons :/ by revtothelowin Android

I'm personally thrilled that manufacturers agree capactive > on screen. They don't always agree with Google and just because Google decided to do that for ICS doesn't mean they need to.

Go manufacturers.

If I have Facebook or some other apps open in the dock, my streaming radio apps are slower at streaming. Also, if things are being slow and I clear the dock, things get faster - especially app performance.

So no thank you.

This is why I don't completely trust the top hits in the app store - Temple Hunt!?! How does this happen? by hunterszombiein iphone

I believe that a lot of users only write addicting game but many give actual reviews or a few more words. When you see 50 reviews in a row, alternating like above, and it's a shiteous game then it's very suspect.

Yeah tons of shitty shitty games have all these 5 star reviews with two words in the body, it's shady as hell and clearly a fake review service to bump your position.

Jen James 5 stars Great game

Joe Joey 5 stars Addicting game

Mike La 5 stars Addicting game

Liz Hi 5 Stars Great game

Nope, not real.

Choosing between the Galaxy Nexus and the iPhone 4S (x-post from /r/Android) by torma616in iphone

I would go Nexus as it's 4g, has a bigger screen

But why not have more screen all of the time and put buttons below to fill space that is there anyway? Just because it's how Google intends doesn't mean it's the best way.

They didn't want to be behind a phone thy was branded by Google and not SE. That's how the story goes.

You can always try a sample in Amazon Kindle app and see if it works for you without spending anything.

Everyday. I couldn't if not for customizing the settings. The font size will vary, but I highly recommend lowering the backlight and using the brown-on-beige theme in Amazon Kindle. It's easy on the eyes, unlike black on white.

Rumor: Verizon roadmap hints at possible HTC Note “phablet” by nickmgrayin Android

[–]jonnybryce 2 points3 points ago

I hope they get it right, but these me-too devices (HTC's, LG Vu) can so easily miss what made the Note great.

Also, HTC doesn't care about battery life as much. I can see this being an issue.

Sony really has taken great steps with Android, from being so transparent to contributing back to the project. The problem is I can't buy their latest phones on Verizon and they're specs aren't as cutting edge as they could be.

I'd love my next phone on V to be a Sony, but they'd have to move soon.

Remember when they were approached and were too proud so they turned it down? I feel like they won't get another shot, but we can hope.

I recently change from Apple to Android, and is missing the advantages one would get with the synching abilites of iTunes/iPhones. Is there any way I can synch my Android with iTunes in more or less the same way? by TheAngrySpankerin Android

Isyncr and isyncr wifi apps. Sync faster with iTunes than iOS devices themselves. Also no hassle and setup unlike double twist.

Can we please shut up about the update situation with Apollo? by Xodiumin windowsphone

Sony still has shitty hardware, but their customers feel a lot better with transparency.

Communication is nice. People just want to hear they're valued and the company is at least trying to do what everyone is screaming about. I don't see the big debate point here. Customers like transparency, period.

That hasn't been updated yet. If you check their blog they promised that, for at least the beta, it's unlimited with no risks.

I agree. Thankfully they're only in beta, so the confusion can be forgiven. I hope soon they really become aggressive in educating consumers and stating what they are. I'm definitely going to suspend my service on Verizon and give them a shot this summer.

Last I heard they went officially unlimited everything and "all in." Where do you see otherwise?
