Why is Myers working at 3rd? by pasta_padrein KCRoyals
[–]jomofo 0 points1 point2 points 2 days ago
It would be a high-class problem to have if we could get another of our prospects to the bigs and use him as a utility player for the rest of 2012, thereby getting him some experience. Then, look at making moves in the off-season to open up a full-time position for him?
[–]jomofo 1 point2 points3 points 2 days ago
It gives us more depth to have guys that can back up Moose. Also, Cain earned his spot in center field, so I assume when he comes back the CF position will be his to lose. When that happens, you can rotate Myers through the outfield positions and third base to give the other guys a day off here and there while still consistently getting his bat in the lineup.

Have you played around with the contrast/color correction settings on your monitor? Sometimes LCDs will get wonky and wash out on certain colors if you don't calibrate them.
is Django a RESTful architecture? I'm confused. by FabricatorMusicin django
[–]jomofo 5 points6 points7 points 1 month ago
Stop reading about REST, SOAP and Django until you understand HTTP. Only then you will be able to understand how these other things build on top of it.
(And before the pedants come at me, yes, I know REST is agnostic of HTTP, but I'm venturing that the OP doesn't even know HTTP well enough to understand the subtlety)

Which One Do I Start With by Spideymvin P90X
In my experience with P90X2: The first phase is easier than P90X, the second phase is on par with P90X, the third phase is tougher than P90X.
But like others have said, either one will do the job.
If you decide to go with P90X2, remember that the length of each phase is flexible. If you're starting from ground zero, I'd recommend extending phase I and maybe phase II, possibly to 5-6 weeks each instead of just 3.

so i've been working out in the morning (and loving it) but today was yoga day and i failed. by tlcin P90X
Interestingly, there's a slight difference in the way Tony explains downward dog in Yoga X versus X2 Yoga.
In Yoga X, he adamantly instructs you not to adjust your hands/feet from the plank position. When I do it that way, my heels never reach the ground and I feel like I'm never getting the form quite right.
In X2 Yoga, he says that it's OK to adjust your feet slightly to get into a better position. I'm just guessing, but I think the veteran Yoga instructor in the X2 video may have corrected him on this. Anecdotally, if you compare the onscreen downward dogs between X and X2, the X2 versions look more Zen-like to my untrained eye. I've found that if I adjust my feet about an inch or two from plank, I can get my heels on the floor and I feel more like I'm in a more balanced, proper position.
Anyway, you might look into this a bit on your own and see if the slight adjustment helps with Yoga X.
Keep it up. I look forward to your updates.

It's on the western edge of Pleasant Valley at I-435 and Shoal Creek. If you're going to Liberty via I-35N you won't be able to see it very well if at all. You might be able to see the very top of it through the trees or something, but if you're on I-435N you certainly can't miss it.

Doing P90X on carpet flooring. by Zweihander86in P90X
You can get a decent 6 piece CAP puzzle mat off Amazon for $25. Mine slips around a bit on certain moves, but I have a short carpet. I'm sure there's a fix, but just hasn't been a big enough problem.
today was yoga day and i just called it quits after 45 minutes...i'm feeling very discouraged. by tlcin P90X
[–]jomofo 2 points3 points4 points 1 month ago
Don't cut out Yoga X, people. Especially after your first attempt. Nearly every P90Xer I've spoken with says they had a horrible experience with Yoga X initially.
I was so pissed off the first time I did Yoga X because I felt like I was misled into thinking it was going be somewhat of a rest day from the first few workouts that had already kicked my ass. I dreaded it the second week and the third week, but eventually my hatred began to fade. By the fourth or fifth time I had done it, the improvement over the first time was insane.
This is the workout, save for maybe Ab Ripper X, where I noticed the most improvement in the shortest span of time. I'm talking the sort of improvement that provides the motivation to keep going the full 90 days. By the end of 90 days, I was able to keep up with everything except for some stumbles on the Warrior 3 sequence.
I see so many people on /r/P90X that modify Yoga X entirely out of their program for whatever reason (too long, too hard, I have other exercises, I swim, I work outside, blah, blah). You're really not doing P90X if you skip out on Yoga X. Maybe there should be a subreddit /r/P90XceptForYogaX.

OK, I see where I misunderstood.
>>> np.nonzero(np.setmember1d(a,b)) (array([0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]),) >>> np.nonzero(np.setmember1d(b,a)) (array([0,1,2,3,4]),)
Similar discussion here.
Edit: I'm still not sure that's what you want, but I'm sure there's a way to do it in numpy
This works if they are both the same length, but maybe I misunderstood the problem:
>>> import numpy as np >>> a = np.array([1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3]) >>> b = np.array([1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4]) >>> np.nonzero(a==b) (array([0,2,4]),)
I usually end up here when I'm working through a numpy problem.
[–]jomofo 11 points12 points13 points 1 month ago
When you're looking for R or Matlab style data structures and functions in Python, you'll most likely end up with numpy/scipy.
Then you can do something like this:
>>> import numpy as np >>> a = np.array([True, False, False, True, True]) >>> a.nonzero() (array([0,1,3]),) >>> np.nonzero(a) (array([0,1,3]),) >>> np.nonzero(a==True) (array([0,1,3]),)
For simple examples like this you might wonder why bother with another library, but once you start getting into vector/matrix operations or more sophisticated scientific algorithms, it really shines.
