Trippy Juggling [x-post from /r/videos] by fiveeightthirteenin juggling

[–]jmerm 0 points1 point ago

I like how many different takes there are on doing a factory upside down. I thought of one which is very similar to the one the juggler in this video did but have seen at least two others recently.

can you tell me a little bit about ezPDF? I find it hard to justify spending $2.99 on a pdf reader without understanding what makes it so great.

I absolutely love Michael Karas. He has so much style when he performs.

siteswap puzzle (i like the word 'riddle' better, but alas... I think it's more of a puzzle) by Callitrichidaein juggling

[–]jmerm 1 point2 points ago

I'm wrong about it having two cycles, I agree. Maybe our naming conventions are different, because I'd say that if every ball follows the same path, then it has only 1 cycle.

The first thing I'm noticing is that the first line is composed of three different 3 ball tricks - 423, 531, and 441. This trick has 2 cycles and is a 3 ball trick. edit see below, this bit is wrong.

The second trick a a 5 ball trick with 4 cycles.

The third patter is a bit simpler. There are 6 cycles. a 81, a 72, a 54 and thre 9's. It is also a 6 ball trick.

The fourth pattern has 7 cycles, which is pretty easy to see. and is in fact a 7 ball tick

The fifth pattern has only 3 cycles, breaking the pattern. and is also a 3 ball pattern, breaking the pattern again.

The sixth and final pattern has 4 cycles. and is a 4 ball trick

I'm guessing that there is a pattern of swapping that is making each pattern a successor on its predecessor but I too have a pretty limited knowledge of site swap.

There are a bunch of almost patterns though. Many tricks have the same number of cycles as they do balls. In fact only the first two tricks don't have this property. That being said, 6,7,3,4 isn't a pattern I recognize mathematically, so I wouldn't know what comes next anyway.

Reddit sync updated (now with themes!) by ljdawsonin Android

[–]jmerm 1 point2 points ago

The button I'm referring to is the one that switches between Hot, New, Top , and Controversial. When browsing posts, it is in the upper center, and while browsing comments, it is in the upper right.

And thank you for your quick reply. Your being a dev who responds to user feedback just makes me like your app more.

This is the first reddit app I'm seriously considering leaving redditonic for but I have a few small gripes.

  1. There is a button at the top for menu items but the menu button does nothing.

  2. There are a few subreddits I subscribe to but don't want to see when I'm browsing (/r/blog for example). It would be cool If when scrolling sideways through my subreddits I could see which appear and which don't. Redditonic nailed this if you wanna see what I mean.

  3. The comment interface is OK, but I'd prefer if instead of hiding the children of a post, there was an option to hide the post itself. I prefer the feeling of browsing that way.

  4. There is no way to see the formatting of a comment while writing it, nor is there a way to edit comments once written.

Most of your throws are very nice, but you have a few where your hands are moving forward-backward instead of side-side. This might seem minor, but mastering the plane in which your hands move will make you look and feel much smoother.

Mills Mess advice to other novices by willpower12in juggling

[–]jmerm 0 points1 point ago

I know a poi spinner who learned mills mess in the funniest way I have ever seen. He began by learning to juggle with his arms crossed in both parities. Then he learned to switch form right over left to left over right and vice versa using the mills mess hand motion. I don't recommend it to him, but it certainly worked for him.

Any suggestions for a good XFCE distro? by celestialteapotin linux

[–]jmerm 1 point2 points ago

I'm also running arch with XFCE. I agree with all the points you made. Setup isn't easy unless you are knowledgeable and/or have a friend to help you so trying it out in virtualbox before committing is a good idea. Now that I have it set up though, I couldn't ask for a better DE.

What are some games that I have to play? by hsn407in gaming

Two games that changed the way I think about gaming in general are

Portal

Psychonauts

Considering their price right now, they are certainly worth picking up and playing through.

When I create a contact, they are automatically saved to the phone. No option exists to save them to my Google contacts as would be my preference.
