Pokéball duct tape rose I made. What do you think, r/pokemon? by iDork622in pokemon

[–]jessicanfly 0 points1 point ago

I came here to ask for a tutorial as well :) Very gorgeous. I will be making these for my SO's little sister. She may not be super girly (why does autocorrect keep suggesting that be Gorky?) but who can resist a pokeball rose.

Any other ents enjoy this as much as I do? by Don_Killuminatiiin trees

Not an ent at all and I'm addicted to the zero version of this. Favorite alcoholic drink: diet coke and coconut rum because it tastes like vanilla coke.

My initial thought - 'Is that Mariah Carey?' - was quickly replaced with 'Did someone try to photoshop Beyonce's face on someone else's body?'

Yeah, she looks weird.

Reddit, what is the most powerful image you have ever seen? by tokerjoker11in AskReddit

I don't have the photo anymore. I had to switch phones last year. This is the only way I can redistribute this photo to others...through an Instagram screenshot. It's the only way I can look at it on my phone either. It's why I will use Instagram until I can't anymore. Because if I stop, I lose this photo and I don't want to lose her again.

This is my grandmother. She died two months after this was taken from cancer. This was right after her jaw metastasized. That is her hair - she hadn't had chemo since around October because the doctors said it wasn't doing any good for her case. We knew that day would come. She'd already been called terminal for years. This is the last photo I have of her. She died in April 2011. I still have to remind myself she's gone.

What story do you tell that no one belives until you provide proof? (NSFW pics inside) by Leuffenin AskReddit

[–]jessicanfly 3 points4 points ago

TL;DR - I pet a wolf. Like right after meeting it. As in it had never seen me before. No, it was not a typically friendly wolf.

I was in Arizona, spending time with my grandfather for Thanksgiving a few years back, when he had to be rushed to a hospital in Phoenix. He was having severe pain and it was quickly diagnosed that he had appendicitis. We all rushed down there, my dad rented a motel for the remaining nights we were supposed to be in Arizona, and kept eyes on Papa. My mother's best friend lives in Phoenix as well so she was on the phone with her, keeping her updated about what was going on while letting her calm my mother down.

The next day, during tests (and after removing my grandfather's appendix), they found colon cancer (he had battled cancer before). My Nana came to inform us in the waiting room and then told us she was going to spend time with my grandfather, but that we should come back around dinner time and we would go out. My cousins were there too and we were all leaving the next day (with the exception of one of my aunts), so it was our family holiday closer - even if grandpa couldn't join us.

With nothing to do, my mom arranged with her best friend for us to come over. Her best friend's son and future daughter-in-law were there, but it was no big deal. With everything going on, we were more than welcome. The entire time, I was withdrawn. Family joked family. Spirits were light and no one really was thinking about my grandfather...except me.

It was while I was withdrawn, sitting in the middle of my mom's best friend's backyard, when I felt a wet nose against my hand. I looked up at a dog and smiled, putting my hand out for the dog to smell. The dog smelled it and then rubbed against it, going as far as to give me kisses while I began to pet it. This was when my mom said aloud: "Be careful, Jess. That's the wolf." I vaguely remembered my mom telling me her friend got a wolf, but didn't think she was serious.

At that point, my mom's best friend began to explain how they found Keira (the wolf's name) was an actual wolf. When they bought her, they thought she was part wolf, but four vets (including one who deals solely with wildlife) said otherwise. The county had also investigated the matter and she was registered with Arizona as a wolf. My mom's friend discussed the precautions they had to take and that they had never seen Keira be so friendly. It had taken her future daughter-in-law months before the wolf warmed up to her. By this time, Keira was letting me pet the underside of her neck and even hug her slightly. She was very affectionate and seemed to become more relaxed with me the more I pet her.

My father had to mess it up by trying to get some wolf love. Keira then got upset and ran off. She growled at all of us after that and my mother's best friend asked us if we wanted to go inside. I didn't want to, but joined the rest of the group as expected of me.

Apparently, it's rumored/legend that wolves have connections with human feelings. My mom believes the wolf could sense that I was down and wanted to help. I believe I was sitting in the grass, not even noticing her, and not making noise, therefore she felt safe around me. Either could be true.

No one believes me until my mom or dad backs it up. Even then, when my mom's best friend comes to town, she backs it up further and even remarks on how strange it was for Keira to treat me as if she'd known me for months, when it had only been minutes or hours.

Sadly, her ex took the wolf in the divorce. It upset her terribly. My mom's best friend loved her wolf. She may have pictures. I would have to ask. Then it would be a story I could back up with pictures instead of calling witnesses :)

Edit: Here is Kira (apparently, I misspelled her name - it's pronounced key-ruh). http://i.imgur.com/ubYAl.jpg

Edited again: My mother's best friend (let's refer to her as Aunt Petunia) says Kira is a Mexican Grey Wolf.

I don't want to be incredibly wealthy. To me, there are more important things in life. But I'd like to be able to move out with a friend, splitting the rent and all that. As it is, I can't do that. With my hours at something like 20$ an hour (such as in the rage comic), I could.

I am trying my hardest to get hired at any nearby school district. They keep turning me down, not even accepting or looking at my resume because the job openings just aren't there. By the way, my resume is flawless and includes higher education.

My wages are 9$ for 15 hours a week and 10$ for 15-20 hours a week. Yeah, I work two jobs and still can't afford half the cost of local rent after bills, forcing me to live under my parents roof.

But you know, my ambitions just aren't there. That's it. Yeah, it's all my fault. insert that one Jennifer Lawrence gif here

At my work, kids are allowed to bring in toys as long as they realize they are responsible for them. Only two kids have ever brought tablets. One brought an iPhone. Plenty of DSes, but almost every single kid brings in a normal toy. Cars. Dolls. Barbies. My favorite was this little girl who used to walk to the gym with her dad. She would always bring a stroller as well as her favorite baby doll as if it was nothing. Reminded me of the days when my mom would let me bring my stroller and doll to the store so I could play 'Mommy'.

I'm an A cup. It sucks. Last year, I found a swimsuit that gives me cleavage and fits just perfectly for the first time. Ever.

In other words, I know the feeling and am ecstatic for you. You look hot, girl :)

Thankfully, she's a tough old lady with a soul of a puppy and was up and going just a few days later (:

That describes my girl perfectly too.

She was fixed when we got her, but I have no doubt in my mind she would've been an incredible mom to some very loved (by her and me ;p) pups :)

She's no longer having too much of a problem standing and walking on grass and carpeting. She's still shaky though - though we saw her run this week. Neighbors were making noise and her (as well as my parents' other dog) darted outside. She doesn't like coming indoors because of the hardwood flooring, which is hard for her to walk on. It may not have been as severe as your dog's though.

We always make sure she has plenty of liquid and food in the dog room (a carpeted den where the doggy door is located) though, as well as outside :)

The vet did say probable :) And resting with pain meds (also eating and drinking a lot fluids) has really helped her. She's almost back entirely to her old self, though she doesn't jump around anymore. I'm afraid to get her too riled or she might try to and might hurt herself :\

We used to treat her like the ragamuffin she is (constant playtime and Pupperonis), but lately we've had to come to terms with the fact that she's an old girl. It's sad, but she's not just any old girl - she's mine. I'm gonna be there with her for as long as I can be.

She is a sweetie and I love her. We think she was abused when we got her because she wouldn't go near men for the longest time. First person she came up to was me and she's been a special friend since :)

As one Jess to another Jess, I hope your girl has a long, fulfilling life full of incredible amounts of love.

Scientists need to get started on a doggie immortality serum stat ;p It makes me happy too. Senior citizen animals are sometimes better than baby ones. They're trained, gentle, and loving in ways only a more seasoned soul could be :)

Same here! I try to mimic it to her as my own babytalk for her. She still gets happy and thinks I wanna play when I do :)
