When in doubt, go to Stout.

If not there, Eau Claire.

Drinking fountain. I'm from NW WI. Fucking southies. What do you guys know down south there in WI? Big cities? Well...shit. It's still a drinking fountain.

Lake Calhoun in the spring. Does it get any better? by MaxDavenportin Minneapolis

I'm heading into the sunset on Whitefish Lake. You're right, I like the tranquility of the northern lakes. I'm spoiled by them. I can't wait to get up there this weekend.

How to Break Down a Door! by Zhunuxin howto

Joke's on him, that door opens out.

I'm assuming someone already made that joke but I'm too lazy to search for it.

I'm going to mount a diving board on our swimming raft. Here are my plans and some thoughts and questions I have. by jaogizin DIY

[–]jaogiz[S] 0 points1 point ago

See, that's why I posted to reddit. Thank you.

Anchors at each corner was my first idea. You can raise and lower them. I'm thinking:
* 5 gallon buckets (my uncle has hundreds of them)
* Drill a hole in the bottom, run a chain up through it with a plate on the bottom.
* Fill the bucket with concrete.
* Put one at at each corner.

My buddy is a civil engineer so he gave me the specs:

Him: A 5-gallon bucket is about .8 cubic feet. Concrete weighs about 150 pounds per cubic foot. One bucket would weigh about 120 pounds.
Him: Specific gravity of concrete is about 2.3
Me: Ok cement nerd.
Him: So they'd weigh about 65 pounds submerged.

I love this idea!

If all else fails, a long shot would be to mount a plywood paddle perpenicular to the jumping to use the weight of the water against the jump.

That is brilliant! It's like the other guy's idea of a sea anchor/para anchor. Wow, I'll have to look into that idea, it's beautiful. (If it works, I'll make sure to give you all the credit up at that cabin.)

I'm imagining a wooden box bolted to the raft and the diving board bolted to the box. It stands up higher off the raft basically.

Free Fishing Weekend, June 2 - 3. No license needed to fish any Wisconsin water by beatoolin wisconsin

[–]jaogiz 1 point2 points ago

It's a light on the very top of a 'tall' bobber and it's a very small light. I scare the fish away by simply being alive apparently so I don't think this lighted bobber's gonna change the game at all :-).

Anyone use those glow-in-the dark bobbers yet? I was looking at the ones with the battery-stick+light refills. Reminds me of ice fishing, sittin' there watching a tip-up.

Could they have picked a creepier name for this colour? by moukou9in pics

'SANTA'S FLESH, JESUS!' is what I said out loud.

'Toddler Taint' would have been creepier, yes.

Jeezis, I just noticed that. I'll stick with /r/GreenBayPackers and /r/ClayFuckingMatthews for my WI info I guess.

There is nothing worse than Flatlanders from Illinoise. Well, maybe Mudducks from Minnesota. Yeah Mudducks suck.

I want a job in computer networking. Honestly just want a cozy job that has decent pay but is not very intensive so I can just enjoy life, enjoy my time with my family and my (future) children. Suggestions? by lone_wolf7869in networking

[–]jaogiz 0 points1 point ago

Well, you could keep doing support. It's a cozy job if you do it for a while and really know a product/products. Get good at them and it's a breeze (but you'll want to do something more, trust me).

I mean jeez, you ask for a cozy job with decent pay so you can enjoy life and my first thought was LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU FIND IT, please.

You could be the network admin at a high school. Run the network, teach a class, coach sports, summers off (sorta). Hmm....that does sound nice actually.

Start out in computer networking support. You don't have to take the work home with you then. Work your way up to [something else] then after doing support (where you will learn a lot about troubleshooting networks).

I taught my dad how to do a brake job - his way of letting us know and saying thanks. by Wheelmanin DIY

[–]jaogiz 0 points1 point ago

My g-pa and dad are the same. I sold my dad my old car. I broke one of the front turn lights, which was connected to the headlight, so I had to replace both headlights and turn signals basically. It's only a matter of some screws, some shimmying parts in, that's it. He made me do it and watched me. That was on Easter. He still hasn't done the other one. I'm waiting for him to do it and send me a picture congratulating himself, just like this!

This totally reminded me of my dad. 'No gifts please' - I believe my dad is physically allergic to gifts to him.

At least they have a mom still though. Mother-world problem let's call it.
