I'm afraid it's worse than that! They are being forced to provide their employees with good health insurance. The horror!

USA Today isn't known for its satire and other news sources confirm it. It's just a really weird story.

Defense Of Marriage Act Ruled Unconstitutional By Second Federal Judge by sci101in atheism

[–]jablair51 1 point2 points ago

I'm curious what will happen when this reaches the Supreme Court. There are still enough conservative justices to make things difficult but the arguments being used to defend DOMA have been dreadful so far. I can't see how anyone could be convinced by their bizarre arguments from tradition.

Marriage was designed to reflect the gospel....Wha..? I thought it was a political/economic treaty between two families...silly me by XiolaBlu14in atheism

It's typical of Christians to take credit for something that existed thousands of years before their religion came along.

How many of you guys agree with a lot of the more activist atheists? (More info inside). by RhinoMan2112in atheism

[–]jablair51 2 points3 points ago

I supporte Jessica Ahlquist because I think the First Amendment and the separation of church and state are fundamental to my ideals of liberty. I don't particularly care if some people got a bad perception of atheists because of that. History will show that they did the right thing.

Good points. People get carbon dating and radiometric dating mixed up all the time. I usually let it go because I know what they meant to say.

Colts Trade FB Chris Gronkowski to Broncos for CB Cassius Vaughn by elandryin Colts

He had zero rushes, zero receptions and the Colts don't use fullbacks very often. His stay here was pretty forgettable so cut the guy some slack.

Civil rights issues seem to arise from things said in the Bible (women+abortions, slavery+minorities, gay) - what is the next major civil rights issue? by inm8num2in atheism

[–]jablair51 0 points1 point ago

If it does happen I can guarantee that the Religious Right will use Muslims to scare people into opposing it.

I know it sounds crazy now but I'm guessing that people will be fighting for polygamy next. There are few rational reasons to oppose plural marriage and the Bible actually advocates in several places but Christians will see it as a way to extend the culture war.
