Lawyers, what cases are you sorry you won? by navysilkin AskReddit

Somewhat. We did not have that much access to the families of people we were prosecuting and vice-versa, for legal reasons. But I saw many a weeping family afterward, and yes, this does effect you, especially in the circumstances I described.

That's true, bit I think in the case you mentioned above, the client just said that the victim had been right and he had done these horrible things, but he really had not perjured himself.

A reading of the statute which does not require the state to prove a mental state is arguably a violation of due process.

Where was this? If the trial is still active the attorney on record can recuse himself.

the lawyer totally could have told the court. attorneys are allowed to share information that would normally be protected by attorney-client privilege if the attorney believes that it will prevent future harm.

He couldn't do this; he would have been disbarred.

I prosecuted cases that sent people to Death Row; I was never thrilled with the idea of doing this.

Perhaps the hardest cases that I prosecuted and won were ones that involved kids involved with gang activity; most of these kids were pressed into the gang and had to do these crimes as part of an "initiation" or to show loyalty. If they hadn't been in the gang they never would have committed the crimes they did. I had to enforce the law; as a result I sent many a frightened young person to prison. It was very sad.

My new boss is refusing to honor the contract he made me sign and pay me for the time I've worked, what can I do? by horriblebossin AskReddit

[–]irishamerican 4 points5 points ago

The boss is refusing to tell me how much was taken for taxes

He has to do this. Request a copy of your 1099 form, and if he refuses, tell him you will call the IRS.

I'm a salaried employee who is paid for 80 hours every two weeks and that I will make up for that extra time by WORKING FROM HOME.

Without looking at the contract, there are some confusing points here. If you are only being paid for 80 hours, why do you have to makeup time?

You can pay an attorney for a consultation (look at the contract) and then sue him in small claims court. You won't need an attorney for this. Same for your expenses.
