How often do you want to quit? by benpatientin Design

[–]infinite0ne 0 points1 point ago

I can see this happening with an in house job. I've lived this full-time and continue to do so as I work a part time in house job and full-time as a freelancer.

But (and please don't take this the wrong way) if you're working directly with clients and this ends up happening a lot, I think it's a sign that something is wrong with your process(es).

Specifically, the look at the early communication processes between you and the client. This where you first figure out if you're a good fit for them and their project. Then, if you are, you clearly define expectations, goals, the process for reaching those goals, and the agreement on the scope of work to meet those goals. This process probably needs to be improved. That's probably true of 90% of designers, including myself.

Then, if things start to go off track (which will be less likely because you've already set up such clear communication form the start), you circle back to your original clearly defined agreements and plans and offer good solutions.

Do yourself and your clients a huge favor and (if you haven't already) get Design is a Job and read it as soon as possible.

When you say something stupid in front of a client by minerva_Kin freelance

[–]infinite0ne 3 points4 points ago

I would be up front and let them know how you feel about what you said the next time you talk to them.

Just tell them that you thought about it and realized that it was an inappropriate thing to say, and that you apologize. I wouldn't give it much more than that, though. Saying too much more will only give you more opportunities to put your foot back in your mouth.

I would definitely not go into any details about the previous client, explaining why you would say that about them etc, because that goes back down the inappropriate path of discussing other clients negatively.

Just keep it simple and honest.

If you haven't heard about it yet, I highly, highly recommend reading Design is a Job. I think everyone on the planet should read it, but especially designers.

These 3 guys belong in jail. If you know them, contact the san diego pd. by mikep500in videos

And if you're one of the 3 guys that stomps on a guy's head when you clearly have him overpowered, whatever the reason (except maybe harming your immediate family or another defenseless individual) it doesn't make you cool, it makes you an idiotic, violent asshole.

Is there a time where you shouldn't use a css preprocessor like LESS or SASS? by killayoselfin web_design

[–]infinite0ne -5 points-4 points ago

You shouldn't use them if you want to stubbornly write all of your CSS by hand and don't give a crap about awesome things like Compass, mixins, variables and nesting.

Here's a good article comparing the two: http://css-tricks.com/sass-vs-less/

EDIT: also check out CodeKit. Super duper awesome best app ever for preprocessing. Seriously.

Sumatra Mandheling Blue - Roasted in the Air Popper by infinite0nein roasting

[–]infinite0ne[S] 0 points1 point ago

I roasted last night, and the pour over cup this morning was quite nice. I do wonder if a slower roast would be less acidic & would taste better though. I haven't timed the air popper, but in warm weather ( I do it outside) it seems to only take around 7-8 minutes to get to second crack.

From what I've read, 10-20 minutes is ideal roasting time range.

CSS Arrow Please! by 9jack9in web_design

Yeah, the website itself borks. But the CSS for the arrows does work in IE8+.

Try this in IE8: http://jsfiddle.net/gaberino/BMank/
