Any other Ents enjoy toking and hiking? by ThePersianPrincein trees

On a cross country tour, my buddy and I would roll 2 joints in the morning. After picking our trail for the day, we would take off, climbing hard and fast.

Our reward: sitting on top of the world with open lungs and fast beating heart.

This when we would spark up and the take about twice as long going back down enjoying all the beautiful scapes.

TL;DR Yes

I. Love. Sedona. There is nothing like putting in an 8 hour hike and then being able to hit up an awesome Indian buffet.

So I know /r/WeAreTheFilmMakers isn't about this...but I can't help but think. Is anyone out there actually established in filmmaking in some way? by capoeira_dude4in WeAreTheFilmMakers

I am on my phone so it is particularly hard to copy and paste but here is a list from most recent to past: The Springbreakers Ring The Bell The Inbetweeners(US) Renee w/ Kat Dennings Dolphin Tale Burn Notice

So no. There are more than just "people in the room" here on reddit. There are workers here as well.

Anyone know anything about New york film academy? Either form personal experience or anything you could tell me about it would be great. by SexytimesALLDAYin Filmmakers

I am a Camerman in central Florida who knows both the head instructor of the summer NYFA program and many full sail grads/instructors.

NYFA is a lot of fun, but pretty remedial. Lots of high schoolers and they teach very basic filmmaking. However, a lot of the instructors are actual industry people who you can get a lot out of if you are inquisitive and ask them.

Full sail is.... Sigh. I work with a lot of people who went there, but only about 1 in 100 of their film grads actually make a living in the industry. They have really great gear, but it is only worth going if you don't have to take out student loans. It is really hard to work as a freelancer if your student loan payment is $500 a month. Just... Don't do it. It would be much better to take out $10k and shoot your own micro usher feature. It can be done.

Look into Valencia community colleges film program. They actually use the students on real projects every semester, working hand in hand with the professionals who will be hiring you later on.

If you have any other question, feel free to PM me.

Once again, the website says it all. You are just to lazy to look at it.

Being able to travel for 5 weeks and come out with a short documentary you can say is yours sounds like a great way to spend your summer if you are a student or freelancer.

What are your credentials that you can even offer an opinion on it? You've probably never left the country or made anything of worth. Or ever will.

They are not hunting for professionals to work for free. They are taking students abroad to teach them how to shoot documentaries and backpack. Read what a link actually is before condemning it.

The entire company consists of a woman and her husband. Who pay the scholarships out of their own pocket.

Aka you get to travel to a foreign country for 5 weeks for the cost of renting a camera for 1 week.

And make videos for non-profits.

But I am sorry you are struggling much that you can only charge people for all your expertise.

I am a writer, director and other things, too (Boy, Eagle vs Shark, Flight of the Conchords). I'm Taika Waititi. Ask me anything! by TaikaWaititiin IAmA

Taika,

I heard you have had a lot of influence on the American adaptation of The Inbetweeners.

When can we expect to start seeing episodes? How do you think it holds up to the British TV original? Do you expect to do a Season 2? Oh all the characters on the show, who would you make out with?
