I can't stand fingernails on a chalkboard. What sound makes you cringe? by Cfoofuuin AskReddit

[–]ikimashokie 0 points1 point ago

Thin markers being used for anything other than writing. Styrofoam. Children screaming or otherwise being loud/high pitched. Being able to hear people eat/drink or breathe (when they are sitting around, not after exertion). The wall of televisions in big box stores.

Loud vehicles and music make me seethe more than cringel

I wasn't aware that mac and cheese was a black food.

If you want, you can take an extra portion (or make some) and say that I gave it to you. I don't like mac and cheese.

Reddit, I hate when little kids say hi to me over and over, what other little annoyances do you feel guilty over hating? by ThatGreenSolGirlin AskReddit

[–]ikimashokie 0 points1 point ago

My fiance used to live in a church house next to the church's playground area. We'd wake up Sunday mornings to children screaming like they were being chased with a flamethrower.

It made me want to find a flamethrower to chase them with.

Because I don't trust other people to not be assholes and try to poison them.

Getting your ears pierced at Claire's? by soigneusementin TwoXChromosomes

[–]ikimashokie 1 point2 points ago

I have two lobe piercings per ear.

My first pair was done with the gun when I was 5. I don't recall any major troubles. My next door neighbor did them while she was working at Piercing Pagoda.

My second pair was the $40 at a piercing place. I don't recall the "I want them outs" that I had when I was five, but 15 years increases your pain tolerance, I guess.

Personally, I'd save up the money and go to the piercing shop. Not only for the reasons I-have-feet posted, but because it seems that at a piercing shop, the person will likely have better experience getting the holes aligned or in the best position for you, since it is what they do.

I've also heard that if you want to stretch your piercings, gunned holes are more likely to blowout/rip.

Have you ever called one of those "How's my driving?" phone numbers on trucks to report dangerous driving behavior? What was the story behind it? by Geauxin AskReddit

[–]ikimashokie 0 points1 point ago

Yes, I call them whenever the driver is driving horribly. I try to keep a pen and paper about so I can write down pertinent information.

Once I called about a driver reading a magazine on a busy interstate, but got bounced to a voice mailbox, which was full.

Another time I called about a truck failing to stay in its lane (I figured that someone would radio them to let them know that maybe they should pull off for a nap or something). The person I spoke with seemed concerned, and in the middle of talking with her, a 5 gallon bucket fell off of another truck directly in front of us.

I'd like to call about drivers with earbuds in, but considering you can't really tell if it's earbuds or wired microphones, and by the time you're at the front of the truck, you're past the info sticker, I usually don't bother.

What gender stereotype(s) do you hate the most? by sexiibitchin AskReddit

[–]ikimashokie 0 points1 point ago

One that really pisses me off is that being a lady, I am not naturally inclined toward mechanical/mathemagical/technological things, or that I am otherwise too emotional for them. (I once flung a book halfway across the room because it said I wasn't naturally inclined toward math. So maybe I am too emotional...)

Hrm. I also hate that as a woman, I shouldn't eat anything with any substance, so I can lose weight. Everything's gotta be low calorie, fat free, light, not-made-of-food. Then, since I'm not actually eating anything, I've got to take osteoporosis medications and eat yogurt so I can poop.

I love the old wives' tale that whistling women will grow whiskers.

I love me some whistling. I tought my fiance and my little brother how.

And yes, I have a whisker. But it's growing out of a scar I have from when I got stitches.

Annoyed that I kept getting the 'nerd' minifigure in the mystery pack, my boyfriend built this mutant to cheer me up :D by Jennygalaxyin lego

[–]ikimashokie 3 points4 points ago

My fiance and I saw the programmer figurine and wanted one for ourselves. I went out, molested at least a box of minifig packs, picked four, and only got one. :( The others were two daredevils and the Easter Bunny/Rabbit-furry.

Something nice about the RVA that I think about, nobody honks. I really like this about our city. People are pretty (just heard a honk outside) cool and generally don't honk their horns like impatient assholes. by LouieKablooiein rva

[–]ikimashokie 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, I remember growing up and hearing "Oh, well we don't have traffic like the BIG cities, so this isn't anything! But I'd hate to be in that..." and "oh, they drive so terribly up north, they're so rude and speed and..."

In my dealings with large cities and "the north", I find that I like dealing with that traffic better than what we've got. Granted, they've planned for it, unlike here in Roanoke, where it doesn't seem like anyone planned anything, and combined with piss-poor driving, it makes for "traffic". I also think that since people think of big cities as places with poor/rude/etc drivers, that gives them leeway to drive like shit as they are clearly from rural/southern areas and even if they drive the exact same way, they're not like those big city/northern drivers.

Moving to Roanoke from Petersburg/Richmond has made me realize that driving is terrifying.

He wants one too. Or at least a bullhorn.

I have taken to honking at people who don't signal, and driving with my windows down so I can yell at them.

My fiance HATES that no one in Richmond/Roanoke (we live in Roanoke, frequent Richmond) knows how to honk (or drive, for that matter).

He essentially says "people drive like dumbasses, and no one's honking! And when someone does honk, the other person acts like they weren't in the wrong!"

I always hope to find a microSD card in my dead flash media, but I have not had such luck. :(

It would have been really nice after the SD card in my 3DS died.

How do YOU make a PB&J sandwich? by dime-piecein AskReddit

[–]ikimashokie 0 points1 point ago

It's really more the butters that drip. I've chalked it up to it being a combination of the no-stir peanut butter, seedy-bread lacking absorbency, and that I use hot toast. When I kept my butters in the fridge, I didn't have nearly as big a problem with drips, but then it's harder to spread.

[–]ikimashokie 0 points1 point ago

Well, today, considering I was out of bread, I used a tortilla.

PB&J taco FTW.

Normally I have two pieces of toast (preferably the wheat w/ fat seeds, as OP puts it), one side gets peanut or almond butter, the other side gets strawberry jam.

I need to change something about my setup, I'm always dripping sandwich innards everywhere.

Can a cycst in the breast cause dull pain? by mslordgorein TwoXChromosomes

[–]ikimashokie 0 points1 point ago

When I was younger and going through puberty, I had a lump they told me was a cyst. That fucker HURT. My friend would laugh, because apparently the way I complained about it was hilarious.

So I don't remember it being a continuous ache, but if I moved a particular way or rubbed against that spot, it wasn't very pleasant.

My fiance has a good job in the area, and since I would be using his car until I got my own, I'm trying to stay within 20-30 minutes of where we live. If I had my own, I'd totally look at things 45m-1h away, which are really the nearest available places outside of the area I'm in.

Is it still available? I'd totally like it.

(yes, the edit says it's taken, but considering the other person asking said "Sorry! Forget I was here." 39 seconds before I posted...)

2X, I have an IUD/insurance dilema by FancyDressKittenin TwoXChromosomes

[–]ikimashokie 2 points3 points ago

I don't think they consider the Mirena DME, so it's likely not covered at those rates.

Your best bet is to find the HCPCs/CPTs and call your insurance (both medical and pharmacy), and ask.

I called and asked, but they didn't give me dollar amounts, just coverage amounts. My gyno's office actually called and gave me numerical estimates, based on what they charged and what the insurance covered.

I would like some gainful employment, preferably related to what I went to school for. I've got about two months' worth of living in the bank.

It seems like everything here wants scads of experience, or is healthcare, or is something that I wouldn't be a good fit for.

Underwire bikini top recommendations? by caitiecatin TwoXChromosomes

I took lessons when I was young, but that whole urban-area business, I didn't get to swim much or go to the beach/on waterslides (I don't think I've ever been on a waterslide, now that I think about it). As far as general tooling about, I think I would feel comfortable playing volleyball in it.

I double-knot it, so that might help.
