That's good thinking. I feel a bit silly for not thinking of that, but thank you for the excellent suggestion.

Apparently Liverpool are close to signing Charlie Adam. What do Liverpool fans make of this? by atanirisin soccer

We already had that under Houllier.

It does - you can save your team selections, in the selection menu - but I rarely use that since my A team tends to evolve depending on performance and fitness. If I've made a few signings during the Summer it can take until November until I have my A and B sides pinned down.

Dammit! I made the same gag as a title to a blog post two days ago. It didn't even occur to me that it might equal tasty karma.

Nah, my tactics are the greatest! I really need to join a network game in order to prove it, but I'm scared of being humiliated.

Damn. I just checked it and it means sacrificing the new tactics system entirely. I'm so greedy that I want both!

EDIT: Just tried it out of curiosity and the are only vertical. No diagonal! Where's my diagonal?

Bring back the tactical arrows! I miss being able to tell my players where I'd like them to make runs.

Also, have proper Directors of Football, especially in Spain. It would be an interesting challenge to have a DoF (or even the directors/owners) give you a shortlist of players you're allowed to sign, or even sign the players behind your back.

Might not be much fun, but it'd be more realistic. It would force you to put more thought into which clubs your management style would be more compatible with. And, if you gain a strong reputation later in the game, it might be possible to usurp your DoF via a board ultimatum ("It's him or me").

Michael Owen, Liverpool legend has won his first Premier League winners medal with Manchester United. by atanirisin soccer

Pretty close, but that situation was the fault of Rick "Coco" Parry being a dunce and not offering Gerrard a new contract when both Liverpool and Gerrard were keen extend his stay.

That was totally different from the Owen situation: every time Gerrard made it clear he wanted to sign, Parry would fob him off, to the point where Gerrard was forced to consider his future. I don't blame him for listening to Chelsea considering how he was treated by that idiot. With Owen, it was the other way around: he kept stalling on a new deal until it became apparent he had no intention of signing, and we were forced to sell.

Yep, that's right. He grew up in Deeside, about twenty miles from where I was grew up.

No. As discussed with aloneinlove, he burnt a lot of bridges when he let his contact run down and then forced a move to Real Madrid on the cheap.

For a lot of fans, including me, the United move was just the icing on the cake, and confirmed what we'd already suspected: he never had any special regard for Liverpool, only his career.

Now, he's more than entitled to behave that way - that's fine - but behaviour and attitude like that does not make a legend. Whereas, at the weekend Steven Gerrard was sat amongst the away fans at Villa Park. That's pretty classy, and it's stuff like that that differentiates a good/great player from a legend.

He didn't move for free, but we only got about £8m (and Antonio Nunez. Sigh) for him as he was in the last year of his contract. And, yeah, that pissed a lot of people off.

Absolutely true, and also hinges on how one defines the word legend. Arguably, a legend - in keeping with the true definition of the word - can only be judged retrospectively. I'm only conveying the perspective that me and my circle of Liverpool-supporting friends and acquaintances held at the time and hold now. I'm sure there are some that think of Owen as a Liverpool legend, but in my experience I find them to be in the minority.

It was never my intention to detract from Owen's successful Liverpool career, nor was it to twist anything to fit my agenda. I don't have an agenda.

Owen: class. Great player for us. Legend? No.

I know what you're saying, but I think the word legend is a bit strong. Yes, he was a favourite of many at the time, but never quite captured hearts in the same way as, say, Fowler, Carragher, and Gerrard (as three recent examples), and that is not because of their longevity but rather down to their synergy with the club.

Owen never came across as one of us, and that is why - as respected as he might have been at the time - he was never regarded as a legend.

I can assure you that Michael Owen is not a Liverpool legend. Even when he was at the club there was always more affection afforded towards Robbie Fowler, and a perception - right or wrong - Owen cared more about England than Liverpool.

With most Facebook screen caps I understand hiding the poster's identity, but in this case I don't believe that the culprit deserves anonymity. Sick fuck.

I've had that problem too, and it's something that usually takes a season or two to really develop. One thing I've found that helps is going to Match Preparation and using the Team Blend option in the Special Focus Areas (workload: High). I didn't use it during my first game but have used it from my second game onwards and noticed a huge difference.
