No, not in the movie. They omitted a lot of the Tatooine backstory to keep the action flowing. He did in the radio adaptation though.

English class had to submit 4 successive drafts. They come back covered in red ink. Resubmit unchanged as the next draft, ink in different places. Resubmit unchanged as final draft, 90-100%. Rather disheartening.
