Xbox 360 For sale, RROD, 20 Gb, wireless controller, all necessary cables by handbrain auburn

[–]handbra[S] 0 points1 point ago

Well, would you take it without the hard drive? For say...$25? I have repaired the RROD on this machine before, but I didn't want to do it again, so I bought a new one.

Three red rings. I'll have to double check, but I think they're flashing.

Can you help me find my dad/best man a new watch? by handbrain Watches

Haha, I heckled him about that when it first came out. Thanks for the suggestion!

Got a watch as a gift and dislike the strap. Wondering what my options are. by octowilliin Watches

[–]handbra 2 points3 points ago

I just got the 241474 for a graduation present. I love it. My straps are slightly different, with black stitching on black leather. They are very similar watches, but mine doesn't have any complications.

I intend to wear mine more with suits, so the straps that came with it are good for me. Hope you find something you like to go with it.

Passenger who filmed plane's engine hitting a flock of birds after takeoff warned by FAA to turn off electronic devices or else by rytisin gadgets

I've added the slides that were presented to my class as "proof" it was RF interference. They are from the National Defense Industrial Association Conference. It attributes "interference" to the misfire.

You have a very good point. My professor was a horrible lecturer, which means I might have misunderstood some of what he was trying to say, but his reasoning for the misfire was RF of the resonant frequency from some surrounding electronics. Now that I think about it, it is very possible he has his own theory, and was trying to pass it off on us as fact.

I have a pdf of a NDIA (National Defense Industrial Association) slide show that goes into the details of the cause. I would be happy to post it, if you know where I could upload it. Edit: http://www.scribd.com/doc/92199464/3-1c-Forrestall-Slides-NDIA-Conference

Also, yes, leaving electronics on, but unused will still lead to interference. But turning them off, like your instructed to do, prevents that.

No worries. I thought I had caught something, but I guess not. Thanks for the clarification.

I love how he says there is no way a phone or tablet could take down a plane, like he is an authority on the subject. I highly doubt he has taken an RF devices class, or even a parasitic inductance lecture. RF was the cause of the Forrestal Fire. A RF signal coupled with the firing circuitry on a Zuni rocket that caused the missile to fire. I'm sure all of the circuitry on a plane is pretty well shielded, but wear and tear can surely have an effect.

Forrestal Fire: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1967_USS_Forrestal_fire

It attributes the cause to a "power surge," however, my RF devices professor studied this incident in detail, and gave the same explanation I presented above.

You are probably right, but the time stamp on your video is one second late. The phantom nametag is at 26:05. But after seeing the locations of all the players, unless the map is wrong, I'm gonna say it was compression. I guess we will find out for sure next episode.

If you watch the video, you can see the name tag flash twice, very quickly. I'm convinced it is someone, I just don't know who.

Did anyone else see the nametag that isn't Doc at 26:00 in etho's video? I'll post a image in a minute.

If Etho doesn't notice them, next episode could be quite intense.

edit: Here it is

edit 2: I mean other than Doc. Just look at the picture.

I saw a duck reunite with one of its chicks, only to then brutally kill it. When have you seen something turn from adorable to suddenly horrific? by lumirasin AskReddit

[–]handbra 1 point2 points ago

...that sounds just like what happened to me, only it was around 3rd grade I think. I mean the exact story. Except it was the Ag teacher that did this every year. And the year we only had one live was the last year he raised them. That and the fact that they were injecting them with food coloring before they hatched kinda ended that little program.

The bat hit the umpire square in the chest?! How can you say it was just in the umpire's general direction?
