Hawks could improve by dealing Bolland by gthankin hawks

I'm not saying Kruger won't turn into a good 2nd line center, but I don't think it's a sure thing, either. Until he puts on some muscle mass, he scares me with how fearless he is; it's hard to develop if you're getting your brains scrambled. I certainly hope he develops the way I think he could, but if the Hawks wanted to let him play the 3rd or 4th line while he develops and bring in a real difference-maker for the top 6, I wouldn't complain. Of course, it needs to be a real difference-maker, not just somebody they think might be able to be a difference-maker.

The fit with the team is hard to predict, but I'd be looking to upgrade the 2nd Center at the expense of the 3rd center. One name that keeps popping up as a fantastic 2-way center is Jordan Staal (I haven't seen him play, so I don't know). Anze Kopitar is a beast (though I don't believe that's realistic). But if somebody blew my doors off, I wouldn't call Bolland untouchable.

Really? Any deal at all? If I could package up Bolland (and maybe Hjalmarsson?) w/ one of our prospects to get a 2-way center who can be the net presence on the PP and/or kill penalties, I'd be all over it. Kruger might not be Bolland, but I'll take a small hit to the checking line if it solidifies the top 6 and the special teams.

Why the Phillies Should Trade Cole Hamels by gthankin baseball

Can't argue with that. I imagine the Phillies are going to ask for the moon and stars, and that's just not justifiable for a rental, which is all the Braves could realistically hope to get from him given their cheap-ass ownership.

He's a free agent, so I don't think the Phillies will get all that much in return for a rental, and honestly, I wouldn't give them as much as they probably will get, if I were running the Braves. This was more of a "wouldn't it be nice" idea. With that said, I think Pastornicky or Simmons should be more than enough for rental. If the Phillies get more than that, somebody is definitely title-chasing, and I don't think that's where the Braves are.

I won't be angry, but we really need a lefty, and we also need a guy who can miss bats.

I like the Braves as a destination, personally ;-)

Why does the FAA *require* ashtrays on plans, but forbid smoking on them? by gthankin designthought

Then I apologize. To me, it came across more as "Somebody else already posted it to a different subreddit, so this is a waste."
FYI, there's a tab up at the top called "other discussions($SOME_NUMBER)" that has a link to all the different submissions of the same URL. That's probably why I thought you were being snarky.

Thanks. Having a shitty day, or I wouldn't have bothered responding; I should know better than to care about random people telling me I'm doing Reddit wrong.

Or, you know, in the linked article (which had an unusually lame title). Since this doesn't explicitly have anything to do with code, I actually thought the post to /r/programming was a bit off-topic. /r/designthought seems much more on-topic, and likely to draw input from a different set of people (since I wouldn't guess that there is that much overlap in the two subreddits). It would appear I was wrong, though.

Oops! I posted to the wrong subreddit. I must have forgotten that /r/food only cares about pictures of food that people claim to have cooked.

Hmm… it would seem like a misfeature to run initial_data on every run of the migrations. I would expect it to only run when on the initial run. That's what the name implies. I haven't used Django/South in a couple of years, though, so I don't recall this particular bit of behavior.
