Yeah this had to have been a philosophy 101 class to try to pull people in. They are always very fun, interesting and thought provoking, but when you get to upper level graduate courses you must prepare for some serious analytic language and to understand complex concepts like they are basic math formulas a child could grasp.

I know you've done some acting work on Parks and Rec as Leslie Knope's police officer boyfriend. Since you are apparently down with the SNL crew, do you think you'll ever be on an episode of 30 Rock? I love your show and standup btw, thanks for making me laugh.

I understand your sentiments regarding greenhousing of ornamentals, that makes sense. However, wouldn't offsetting the cost of transportation of crops that prefer warmer weather be better than shipping them from overseas and elsewhere and make up for the cost of creating low cost greenhouse or clear mylar quonsets over the crops?

The Irish potato famine was what happens when an entire population relies on monoculture. Had they diversified their methods of agriculture and crops, there wouldn't have been a famine.

You're argument about corn being used as feed is another problem with ag in this country. Grass fed cows have less fats and saturated fats than their counterparts that are fed corn and other grains/animal feed. A piece of boneless skinless chicken has more fat and saturated fat and cholesterol than a piece of steak of the same size from a cow that has been grass fed.

Your argument regarding chemicals created in a lab environment through the discovery of certain biological interceptors is a bit of bad logic. Thats like saying cocaine or meth is created through natural means because they use ingredients that in some point in their past came from the earth. Well, everything comes from the Earth, so that's a bit of a moot point.

The EPA is a freaking joke, they do what lobbyists and paid off politicians tell them to do. They do the bare minimum for the environment and even that is questionable since they are not much more than the corporate arm of pollution regulation in the government.

I'm not saying that all farmers who use pesticides and plastic fertilizers are terrible, horrible people who are destroying the world. That would be far too simple-minded to be true. Many farmers only use pesticides in reaction to the problems associated with weeds and pests and blights and so on and not as a general rule even when there are not any health issues with their crop. I feel as if you may think I am demonizing farming and agriculture in the U.S. when in fact I am just pointing out a few flaws. Farmers are the hardest working people in the U.S. and I think most farmers are responsible when it comes to taking care of their land and their farms. I see nothing wrong with what they do or how they treat their crop. What I do have a problem is the chemical companies that knowlingly create pesticides and treatments for crops that have adverse effects on the environment and as a direct result on us humans.

I don't farm, however, I've had an organic garden for several years and took Urban farming classes in college (enough to be a "master gardner" whatever the hell that means) that while they didn't teach me widescale agricultural techniques, did teach me what you can do to grow produce sustainably. I've read several books about organic farming and the industrial process used in current methods of agriculture. We visited farms while in that class and spoke with both organic farmers and farmers that use pesticides as a means to control their yield. I don't see them as evil people who poison their crops and the Earth around them as if I was a blinded moron. Their livelihood is at stake and its either work 5-10 times as hard or spray some stuff once a year. I understand the cost effectiveness and sometimes the necessity to do so. Also if you respond to me yet again, I'm just gonna go ahead and not respond because you clearly have everything figured out and won't be swayed one way or another from your opinion.

Raised beds are easy to maintain and don't take a ton of effort and you can always cloche plants that need more humidity and sun and you can do all of this with very little space. Mildew and blight happen, just make sure you rotate crops yearly and that will minimize the likelihood of it occurring year after year. Also, humanity got along fine without pesticides for thousands of years, I think we'd probably lose a small percentage of crops without them. The U.S. produces more grain, vegetables and other produce that just ends up going to waste or ends up as animal feed that even losing a small percentage of crops shouldn't cause any food scarcity here. Pesticides don't really help plants create their own methods of pest deterrence through natural processes, so that is another problem. Pesticides and plastic fertilizers enter the ecosystem via runoff and end up in the water table which we end up drinking, sea-life ends up mutating, dying off, becoming sterile and are generally negatively affected by them. I can understand a little pest control and natural fertilizers and compost to prevent loss and sustain plants, but I don't see the benefit of consuming produce that is excessively altered and treated for the sake of their storage and hardiness unless its done through natural and not artificial means.

The best option is to grow your own and not use any pesticides of any sort. That way you can avoid being poisoned altogether.

Under the wetback part put: Mexico was purchased by the U.S. and many Mexicans are legal U.S. residents. Do you also want their delicious burritos, tacos, cheap farm labor (which would cause the collapse of U.S. agriculture) and wonderful culture to go as well?

Under the Korean part put: Would you also deprive other Americans of Samsung products, Kias and Hyundais not to mention kimchi, Korean taco trucks and Korean bbq?
