If American copyright laws can be enforced around the world, why can't American labor and slavery laws be enforced worldwide as well? by ratterbatterin politics

[–]greenknight 7 points8 points ago

That was the moment I knew no one was safe just because we were in Canada. It wasn't that he could be extradited for bogus law, but that american LE were the arresting officers. Sickening.

Though not quite as amusing, while I lived in rural Alberta my code was T0M 0W0 .

I got no love on the comment but thanks for understanding that the cultural insensitivity was meant to highlight the baffling nature of surprising people (educated in disability issues even) with the concept that disabled people might want to access the site of an organization whose only purpose is to provide services for disabled people.

What sort of Ching-Chong you singing friend?

J/k - I design websites for non-profits that work with blind people that never even considered that a blind person might want to look up information for them selves. It was a face palm moment for me.

Sounds good for the emergency kit but I still use the same fire starter I did twenty years ago: Paper egg carton sections filled with tinder and woodchips, topped off and dipped in paraffin. Although I have never put it to test with other modern (or ancient) methods I bet it has a pretty favourable thermal units/ time.

In a non survival situation, I would rely on my surroundings but I did use one on a cold backcountry night, ages ago, in a highly sensitive alpine ecosystem rather than disturb the pristine (but delicate) world around me.

How Do You Win Over a Former Best Friend? by JJTheJetPlane5657in SocialEngineering

Lol. You are too nice, I wasn't going to give them what they needed; rather point her into rereading that bit again and hopefully picking up what you so graciously provided her. OP, I'm a bastard, listen to this person.

And I realize now that's not my place to do that to people..

Yet you ask us how you can go about that? You need to think about your motives for doing this a bit more.

My thoughts exactly.

Doesn't sound like the ethics of someone who says:

WZ AFKers and the lack of shit-giving by snatchamikein swtor

I agree. Bad form when they have human populated test servers that we can hammer on. I just wonder when we all report them yet nothing is ever done.

They have enough time to respond to complaints about my inappropriate character name, why do these fall on deaf ears? I'm sure that the helpdesk is empowered enough to fix this sort of problem.

Does BioWare actually answer in-game support tickets, or just auto-close them? by BradGrouxin swtor

[–]greenknight -6 points-5 points ago*

c'mon. You seriously put a ticket in for that? Sounds like the problem was wetware related and that is why the ticket was closed on their end. Hopefully they got to move on to someone with a real problem like the OP.

To be constructive instead of a whiner, how about making a thread in the forum (which you know they monitor ) specifically for feature requests.

This is an excellent idea and worth a post on the forums. I would certainly respect a timeout to negate these asshat's abuse of the system. Must be happening on Imp side too but I haven't levelled a character very far on that side.

Could this be a Bioware bot? Testing game mechanics? I find it suspicious that such a user could exist for long unless protected.

Oh really? how? Maybe we should just convince them mutilate the littel girls a little bit more.

As for your definition: Mutilation - an injury that causes disfigurement or that deprives you of a limb or other important body part.

I would feel mighty fucking deprived if I had my foreskin removed. Sorry but you are the mistaken one here.

Nothing is worth delving into ALSA manpages. I remember trying (and succeeding) at getting 2 sound cards working on independent audio streams for a DJ booth. Fun times.

I just assumed that anyone who would justify doing something like that to an infant must have some sort of underlying psychological issue; probably directly related to the unreasonable position they are taking. Again my assumption is that they have no idea where this regret and trauma originate because it was laced into their mind at the very earliest moment.

Instead they just try to convince themselves that they are the normal ones so that they don't have to deal with the uncomfortable fact that their loving parents would have let some person convince them that their "perfect" new creation was flawed and needed correction.

also - If you find that study pass it along. I'd like to read it.

Thanks for using my preferred term. I do not use the religious term circumcision anymore to remove any power it has in our language and culture.

It is about time that we call it what it is: Infant Genital Mutilation.

aside - if you ever run into someone who refuses to equate female infant genital mutilation with it's male counterpart... ask them if they would reconsider if we could convince the FIGM crowd to go a bit easier when carving away some of the most sensitive tissues a woman will have?

No one knows what your penis should have looked like or should have felt like because fully grown adult humans subjected you as an infant human to a painful yet almost certainly unneeded medical procedure. This is a fact.

I will not use that word. I will continue to refer to this barbaric practice as it should be (and as it is in it's female equivalent): Infant Genital Mutilation.

Could, can, have, and just don't anymore. Just like any other type of cultural blindness they are incapable of seeing past it.

You don't feed the troll. Americans are obsessed with finding reasons why disfiguring a mere infant is part of their culture.
