That's all I did. I did not have to prove that my side was right, just prove that yours was wrong (that you are a unicorn). For someone touting that they've taken a philosophy class your ability to see reason is alarmingly poor.

While your point was valid, this is not necessarily true. You can't simply win an argument because you've proved your opponent wrong. You must also prove that your side is still correct.

What exactly are you talking about? You tell him to prove that the grass is always purple on the other side of the world and suddenly it becomes proving it on your lawn? Every time he explains something to you you either change the argument or misquote the problem of induction. He's made that mistake once, and not even where you thought he did. You can't lose an argument and proclaim that "it's impossible to prove me wrong herp derp classic induction". If you're going to argue, at least use points that you understand.

HTC has been using the a downward swipe to unlock for at least a year and a half now. To top it off, their new lock screen is a ring allowing you to drop apps inside of it if you want to open them from the lock screen or just sliding it up to unlock the phone.

The fact of the matter is is that there isn't much to do with the lock screen. While Samsung and HTC try and differentiate there's from Apple's as much as they can, it still boils down to a basic touch gesture to unlock the phone...which is what Apple has a problem with.

False. They're used for giving the inventor (ironically, not Apple) a grace period to be the only one selling their invention. Apple did not invent the smartphone.

You mind telling me what was so innovative about iOS4? The gyroscope is not new in any way. Novel Hardware designs is so beyond subjective I'm confused about why you put it in as an argument. this all sounds good on paper until you actually use these devices and wonder why Angry Birds on a half inch thick dual core 3D monster barely runs as well as it does on a 3 year old iPhone 3GS

Except they do. You clearly have never used one of these devices. Coming from someone who has played different tower defense games on a lot of different devices, those dual core monsters run the game in its later levels far better than the iPhone 4. You're commenting on something using assumptions you've picked up from the internet.

I think there needs to be a middle ground between the Apple and Android way of multitasking. Android does more than I need, and Apple does far less than I desire. Android's can affect battery life if gone unchecked. I don't want to have to check. On the flip side, do you know how nice it is to be able to select a video on youtube, put it to the highest setting, and switch to a game to play while it's loading? I want something in the middle of what both companies have. They seem to be on the extremes.

I think that Steve Jobs and all of Apple HQ legitimately thinks that the iPhone came out in 2007 and then Eric Schmidt deliberately copied everything about it and released it on the market.

I love this response. Despite Steve Jobs wishing Eric Schmidt well, you're assuming Steve Jobs let Eric just sit in on iPhone meetings knowing he was working for Google who had recently acquired a mobile platform company? Mr. Jobs was aware of all of this. So was Schmidt considering he (by his own will) did not go to several iPhone meetings because of a "conflict of interest." The "Eric Schmidt is a dirty copier" is a myth made up by people who can't explain why Android is beating Apple in the smartphone race rather than looking at their own company.

Is that so??? Do you mind showing me some IP Google has infringed on? The only patent case Google is/has been involved in is the Oracle case, which Google is now in position to win. Conversely, Apple is a known bully in the trademark world. Companies that had "iNames" before Apple used them have sued Apple for using their names (iPad, iSync, etc) despite telling Apple they can't. Apple then just buys out the company's trademark in court because they are many, many, many times their size. Trust me, you'd have a hard time convincing ANYONE that Google is a bigger legal bully than Apple.

I would respectfully disagree with this. A 3.7" screen is ridiculous. How people even function with it is beyond me.

Technically not true retina display, but I'll ignore the physics of that because under some classifications it does. Regardless, so the iPhone 4 upped how good the screen looked. Exactly what else did it do?

That's because you haven't looked outside of the wall that Apple has carefully laid out for you (for their benefit. If they acknowledged how cool some of the stuff listed below was, you'd be upset that the iPhone 4 didn't have it).

4G, bigger and better screens (Super AMOLED > Retina display on a tiny screen), 3D (if you're into that kind of thing), dual core processors, improved cameras, hardware acceleration, and that's just in terms of physical designs. Software is a whole new ballgame.
