I'm sure I'm too late to the party for anyone to read this, but whatever.

I was a total loner/geek in school. Only had a small handful of friends, pretty much kept to myself, and the thought of a girlfriend was laughable.

One day I'm on this art field trip, and there's this chick on the bus sitting in front of me, a year older, who is INSANELY hot. She has a smile like an angel and she's just bursting with energy. She even turned around at one point, said hi, and asked me to take a photo of her and her friend, and was nice to me on and off during the field trip. I was reasonably flabbergasted.

Field trip ends, figure I'll never see her again. 'Cept it turned out that the locker that I basically never used was right next to hers! Some time goes by, I'd see her occasionally between classes (and after a week or two I basically knew when she'd be at her locker), and I finally find the balls to ask her out.

I marched out of the tech lab (which was where I spent most of my time, with my fellow geeks), head held high and jaw set with determination. The crowd in the halls parted like the red sea. All the 'cool' kids, who so far as I knew had no clue who I was, were greeting me and giving me the go-ahead nod - they knew what I was up to.

I rounded the corner, and there she was, locker open, grabbing books. She must have felt me coming, because she turned to me, said hi, and flashed that knee-melting smile....

... at which point I got light-headed, chickened the fuck out, and kept walking right past her and out the door.

Fast forward ten years. I end up meeting her again, and after a year of trying finally convince her to date me. We're still going out. She's awesome (and a redditor).

tl;dr - Decided to ask the woman of my dreams out in highschool, chickened the fuck out, but ten years later we're dating.
