Riding your bike home drunk fukkin' sucks. by shitfacedpaintingsin cripplingalcoholism

Part of me is curious if you wear helmets during your drug addled bike rides, but most of me says that you obviously have little concern for safety. Still, I am curious.

New Zealand hikes tobacco taxes 40% in bid to become a smoke-free country by coldbrookin Health

[–]freezingprocess 0 points1 point ago

US here. In the last 10-12 years I have gone from paying under $2 for a pack of premium cigarettes to up to $7 per pack. And just like millions and millions of other people here, I still smoke.

However, you will get some people to quit...not many, but a few. And if there is a black market for cigarettes in the US, someone PM me.

I was going to buy a bench for my porch when I found this in front of a neighbor's house. It should be better than new this weekend... by confused_dwarfin Frugal

I need an umbrella for my patio table and my neighbor has one that seems to be in good shape. Should I spray paint it or maybe soak it in tea leaves (I hear that works)?

My neighbors are kind of jerks anyway.

Quick and dirty: How to open a bottle of wine with your shoe! by HeathenBarbiein cripplingalcoholism

Some wine snobs will tell you this "bruises" the wine. I'd be inclined to chug the wine and bruise someone that might say something like that. However, I really don't know.

I usually just ride on out-of-the-way bike trails where I feel collisions are very very rare. I felt like wearing a helmet was more of a burden than it is worth.

However, after reading you post and others like it- I will wear my helmet now.

It is 96%. What separates Google from FB is their advertising model. On FB you get some banner ads and viral marketing. On Google if you search for any product your top results are going to be from those that pay for their spot.

Plus, Google develops software- It has potential. It is a robust company with it's hand in many projects (it lead the development of the android OS, for example). I don't see anything like that in Facebook.

Good point. Still, I have trouble understanding why FB stock would be so highly valued.

As a matter of fact http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/story/2012/05/23/facebook-ipo-stock.html

I am not the only one.

Hugely overvalued stock. It is just a fucking website. That is it.

They have no real product. They don't sell anything but Zynga bullshit.

They have great web traffic, which is good for adverts...which are pretty lame as a whole.

I don't know why anyone would think FB could hold the same value as Google or Amazon. I wouldn't touch that stock with my worst enemies dick.

Casino workers of reddit, what are some things that we patrons may not know about casinos? by legion26in AskReddit

[–]freezingprocess 0 points1 point ago

I am not sure even that would help as the bets are placed before the cards come out. They played textbook blackjack. The only thing that varied was the amount that they bet. and that was either $5 or $500, nothing in between.

Casino workers of reddit, what are some things that we patrons may not know about casinos? by legion26in AskReddit

[–]freezingprocess 0 points1 point ago

It baffled everyone. We used a 4 deck continuous shuffler and they used the normal counting method it seemed- sitting first base betting table minimum almost every hand then popping table max out every once in a while and always winning. No smoking, no drinking...textbook card counters. And they did this for days so it wasn't just luck.

They told one dealer that they were MIT grads, and this was long before the documentary on the MIT blackjack team came out or that movie "21".

Oddly, they tipped well. Most card counters do not.

3 years after the first casino opened up in Illinois, the number of pawn shops and suicides trippled. Coincidence?

No.

Casino workers of reddit, what are some things that we patrons may not know about casinos? by legion26in AskReddit

The casino I work at got hammered by a card counting couple. All we had at the time were continuous shufflers. They even bragged that we were still going to lose despite our shufflers. The beat us up for a week straight before moving on.

And they are still welcome to come back...

...because there isn't a goddamn thing we can do to (what we know in the casino business as) an Advantage Player. It is not illegal. Also, it is incredibly rare. Many claim to know how to count cards...but in 15+ years of dealing to hundreds of thousands of people, I have seen less than 10 real card counters. I've seen hundreds if not thousands of want-to-be card counters, though...and they make for much needed comic relief.

I have worked in a casino for 15 years and I can confirm that this does happen. It is not regular by any means...it is a bit on the rare side, but it does happen.

I know this is going to sound mean, but you have no idea what you are talking about. Betting type?

I manage a casino. I run the numbers. I see the hold. Do you even know what the hold is? Do you even know what a density is? Do you even know what you are talking about?

I run a motherfucking casino. Have you even taken a stats class?

Do you even know what the term "probability" entails?

I have a suspicion that you don't. I don't like to be so forceful, but you are talking out of your ass.

What are you talking about?

If you go by any one day you might find some anomalies, but over all, most people lose in the casino...that is why we make money.

And the number of people that lose are typically are in the 90% majority.

I read what the hold is. I sign off on what the drop is.

I have worked in a casino for the last 15 years of my life.

The only thing you should tell yourself when you walk into the place is this: You are not going to win: you are there for entertainment. Kiss any money you allocated for gambling goodbye. You are not going to win.

And if you do actually win...goddamn you are one lucky motherfucker.

Almost no one wins.

Trust me....I am a manager in a casino. I could be fired for writing this, BTW.

Seriously. I have read the reports and read the numbers. It is less than 10% of casino patrons that leave with more money than they come in with. And everyone is a fucking snowflake and thinks they are going to be in that 10%...

...And 90% are fucking furious when they discover that they are not in that less-than-10% that actually wins.
