If you are in a post-industrial country (US, Canada, Western Europe, etc) and are poor enough to not have access to a refrigerator, there is help available to you. Take it, and use it to better your condition. Food stamps, welfare, medical care, and housing.

I refute the argument that eating junk food is the only way to live when you're poor. Potatoes, carrots, celery, and even ground beef are all dirt cheap and they really do fill you up quickly. And they're a damn sight healthier (and cheaper) than McDonald's, Coke, and a bag of Cheetos. Buy a slow cooker.

You don't need to cook. That's why I said "eat them raw". I then went on to say "you can grow plants in an apartment". All they need is water once a day and to be put next to a window or on a balcony. I'm willing to bet that every apartment has a window.

Since you put those words in my mouth, I'll go ahead and agree with you. "Anyone can do this, no matter how poor!"

Thing is, raw veggies fill you up. They're mainly sugar, water, and fiber. Cooking them changes the equation. Eat them raw, eat them slowly. Grab a bell pepper and some whole carrots and you're good for lunch. Pair it with a cup of coffee (caffeine is an appetite suppressant) and you're set for the better part of the day.

Better yet, buy a couple green bean plants. $5 for a plant which produces from late spring through early fall. Eat what you can raw, can the rest for winter, you've got meals planned out all year. Even in an apartment, you can put it on the balcony. Green beans and bell peppers got me through college, with Burger King and McDonalds playing a fairly small role throughout. A $10 tub of Folgers completes the scenario for a year or two.

Someone who is really poor should not be looking for the most food for the dollar, they should be looking for the most filling food for the dollar. Unless they're dangerously underfed, it's not about calories as much as it is about not feeling hungry. People with any extra bodyfat can survive quite healthily off the excess fat as long as they're getting vitamins they need. Being poor and fat is just the easy way out.

According to one Burger King I've been at and complained to them about poor tasting soda, they have a vendor (local Coca Cola company) that controls the mixture. If someone is watering down the Coke at big-name fast food joints, it's Coke themselves.

I lived in Germany for a full year on $5000US and never knew Aldi was also in Germany. I figured it was a US-only thing. Never saw one when I was travelling around.

If you really want to know a language where people are unwilling to help you learn, try going to Finland and speaking broken Finnish. Nothing against the Finnish people, they're all wonderful, but when I spoke my Finnish (which I spent years learning), they completely ignored me and responded in their English, proud to show off how well they spoke the language. If I continued to speak Finnish to them, they ignored me until I responded to their English in English. Most infuriating thing I've ever encountered, since I wasted a lot of money and time being taught Finnish to have basically the entire population of Helsinki ignore me until I recognized their English (which I believe had to have been worse than my Finnish).

At least in Germany people respected my choice to speak German. Many spoke English back to me, but when I replied in German they recognized that both of us were equally eager to practice our second languages with each other.

There was also a cargo plane, which had crashed shortly after takeoff from Isachsen research center. It may have been transported on that plane. Looking at the truck compared to what Top Gear brought, I'd have a hard time believing it would make it there on its own.

I've actually made something similar. I used eggroll wrappers, stuffed them with taco meat, and fried them. Basically a tex-mex eggroll. Similar in principle.
