Did I go too far by pressing charges? by PressingChargesin AskReddit

The only point I can't get over though is that he was trying to grab her poon, not just an ass pinch. That's crossing the line of legality. I'd vote jailtime :)

I don't think she made the wrong decision though. It's good that she gets both perspectives, but simply put, if you grab a pussy without permission, drunk or not, short skirt or not, you are guilty and it's wrong.

The law's punishment is too harsh for these cases, but the he still deserves to be arrested for doing a grab he wasn't allowed to do.

He put his hand between her ass crack. That's intentional. The hand doesn't simply fall into a pussy.

I don't necessarily believe she made the wrong decision. I do think the punishment far far far exceeds the crime. But I think based on what she said, he's guilty of it.

That's fine to say. When you have something traumatic happen to you, a circlejerk is sometimes the best answer.

We're saying the same thing in two ways. I'm agreeing with you, but obviously she's not going to post to circlejerk for this sorta thing, she's got nobody to support her and was looking for exactly that. I think she found it.

Her friends left her and she did what she thinks is right. She needs reassurance. What's wrong with that?

Ass between the cheeks isn't a slip.

You suggested you get a free grab for a drink. And the short skirt argument is soooo 1980s. We are far beyond that now. Skirt size has nothing to do with sexual actions.

Agreed. No reason for a grab likes that. Try a thigh or a caress on the back first. This girl didn't do anything wrong. The laws are just too strict for this. But a night or even a few days in jail would be right

He tried to grab her ass and go for a poon grab. That's where he went wrong. I think the punishment is far to severe for the crime, but I do think this guy has to take some guilt.

WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING!? So much better things to complain about. Let it run before the right wingers make this illegal too.

More Universities Should Shut Down Their Computer Science Programs by tuna_safe_dolphinin programming

I wasn't arguing that it's a replacement for degrees. Every bit helps. However, I find being an open source contributor (even if you have a lot of clever demo code on github), it will FAR exceed your ability in an interview than having a degree.

That being said, even software engineers better understand how binary numbers work, how floating points work, what recursion is, when do use a list vs. hash table, etc etc. That's not CS to learn. it's key to coding though and I find those w/o that knowledge to be incapable of making kick ass websites.

Contribute to open source. Best way to get a job. If you do I promise people will hire you.

Submit patches to popular projects. Add to documentation of others.

This is worth more than a degree to MOST employers.

Yes, w/o a degree you will not be working on a search engine or working on relevancy algorithms. That's because it's a very CS focused discipline. But if you want to parse forms submitted or speed up a crappy website - trust me most shit in production out there is crap. If you see the sausage being made, you see the warts.

I was at carnival in spain and germany - this was "normal" and when I spoke to anyone who did it they had NO clue it was offensive.

I just hate it how the US gets a rep for being ignorant there yet this sorta thing is so widespread. What's most important is to educate the people who do it.

You're not being overtly PC here. Europeans tend to be a little ignorant on the subject of black history and have no clue as to how offensive this really is. It's good that you're trying to explain it to him.

Europeans frequently dress in blackface and they don't find it offensive. They do the same with mexican dress as well. And as an American it now annoys the hell out of me whenever I hear an American being called "ignorant." The statement within itself is, well, ignorant.

1990 is closer to the moon landing than it is to present day. What other seemingly obvious facts blew your mind? by grachasaurusin AskReddit

[–]foolinator 1 point2 points ago

Google and some billionaires are investing in research to do astroid mining. Not been done yet.

A few earth-like planets were discovered not far from our own solar system. We've found far more than that, maybe millions and not billions.

Yeah internet, smart phones, tourist space travel, astroid mining, discovery of billions of earth like planets, quantum physics, more people college educated than ever in history, controllerless video games, 60 inch tv's less than an inch thick, highest life expectancy than ever in human history....

Yeah, we were great in 1960, when blacks were lynched and had to legally be forbidden to drink for the same fountain as a white, when women had to work in the house, when white men were the only rich people in the world, when europe categorized african natives based on the width of their noses, when neighbors spied on one another and got jailed for being accused of being a communist....

Yeah, times were great.

The thing to remember is that when these pieces of ice are hitting, it's almost never at full velocity. It'll dent the hell out of a rooftop, but you'd be surprised when seeing a storm like this how resilient cars and rooftops can be.

If it was going at a high velocity, a lot of it would get melted. Besides, if you fire a lot of ice at a high velocity, it'll often just shatter on impact.

But this size, it's def possible if it's a weak or thin roof.

[–]foolinator 0 points1 point ago

It does. Having been in a hailstorm myself, I'll be the first to tell you that you KNOW to get shelter quick - and it's easy to get shelter. Even with hailballs that size, you're still pretty safe indoors.

I remember once watching a hailstorm in Chicago back in 1999 and watching every car in the parking lot slowly but surely get their windows broken. It was intense.

Being on an "unlimited data" plan, I never expected to get this. by doldererin technology

For an unlimited plan, that's shitty. AT&T can suck my balls.

You gotta just faceslap how AT&T's lawyers cum on the English language.

Unlimited is defined as something with a limit. The change the meaning of the work "un." It's just something that I can't get over.

I can verify this. I get 4g speeds around NYC often and in cali I was downloading 6MB/sec on my computer. Latency sucks ass, but the speed is good and it's really unlimited.
