Yup, Stone's or Springfield, not sure which one is cheaper if the prices are different at all.

Going to Vegas June 1-3 for bachelor party with a dying wish of table service at XS. Need advice, desperately. by PhoneDojoin vegas

[–]flat_top 0 points1 point ago

In my experience (twice FWIW) Cabanas have been cheaper than tables inside on/near the dance floor.

Last year on a random June weekend my group of 10 guys had a cabana for $2000 (about 4 bottles) plus tax/gratuity. Call them directly and see what their prices are for that weekend or try and get in touch with a promoter (a few have been posted in this Sub) who can sometimes get you in with a lower minimum

Drink Specials in NYC by joefufin nyc

[–]flat_top 1 point2 points ago

Destination Bar has half price drinks everyday from 4-8 and all day on Sundays. On special High Lifes are $2 (meh) and Delirium Tremons are $5 (Amazing). Great place to grab some drinks, especially on Sundays.

Bars in Murray Hill all have specials of varying degrees all the time, best bet is to walk around and check them out, you'll find plenty.

Fantastic area. Great bars right in the area and a short walk, < 1 mile to Center City

Bagel Shop? by secret_snowmenin philadelphia

I also enjoy spread, although if youre looking for a really traditional style bagel you probably will not. Good traditional bagels do not exist in Philly. Also the line at Spread on the weekends is outrageous

What are some Philadelphia establishments you would not recommend? by Ididnotknowthatin philadelphia

[–]flat_top 1 point2 points ago

Definitely agree on the Jim's tourist trap. The wait is absolutey not worth it. I'd rather get a steak at a lunch cart around the city.

The only thing more out of control than the NYPD are the stories in this subReddit vilifying them. All hype.

Hi Reddit, how far is your commute to work and how long does it take you to get there? by Jokaroniin AskReddit

[–]flat_top 1 point2 points ago

12 minutes combination of subway and walking.

Previously my commute was 30 miles by car and took at least 45 minutes, and normally about 1.5 hours coming home. That sucked.

Question about orientation by kekehippoin Drexel

[–]flat_top 2 points3 points ago

Even my senior year, anything past Spring garden, especially past 35th st was always a time to be extra cautious. Of course we went there frequently, I had friends who lived as far as 38th and Brandywine, but for an incoming freshman you cant drill the "be extremely alert and try to avoid travelling alone" mentality enough.

It is not an exaggeration in any way to say that Spring Garden and points north/northwest are more dangerous than the general campus area and points south.

I would say Drexel is extremely justified in telling students, especially at orientation to avoid this area. They will expand on their own time It's orientation, they aren't even students yet, they have no business wandering off campus unless they know exactly what they are getting into.

Bike beats subway in race-to-work competition by ToxtethOGradyin nyc

[–]flat_top 0 points1 point ago

I'd rather be hit by a train then see how sweaty I'd be after riding a bike all the way to work. I sweat walking to and from the subway stations as it is.

No I am not some sort of overweight buffoon, I just really, really like sweating apparently.

Get the unpopped kernels out of microwave popcorn by opening the bag slightly, then just shaking them out, leaving only the popped ones inside which can be emptied into a bowl. by Purple_Delishin LifeProTips

[–]flat_top 0 points1 point ago

I find about 2 minutes is good, your times will vary obviously due to microwave strength and how many kernels you put in the bag.

Disposing of an old Mattress in Philly? by Jer_bin philadelphia

[–]flat_top 3 points4 points ago

You can still leave mattresses curbside: from here

"Residents may continue to set out compactable furniture, such as sofas, mattresses, box springs etc., for collection at curbside, up to two items per week. "

When I moved it was nowhere near a trash day so I had to drop it off at one of the centers. It was the one on 58th and woodland I think. You cannot pull a car into one of these places with out of state plates however. They did let me park my car on the street and carry the mattress in.

I witnessed a stop and frisk this morning. What are some good ways to try to stop this practice? by ammboin nyc

[–]flat_top -2 points-1 points ago

Good to see you know that there is no way the officer received a description of a black suspect in a hoodie in the area and found someone matching that description.

Next time just videotape it, I for one would be THRILLED to see your hard hitting investigative report of someone being frisked in New York City. Bet you get a million hits on you tube.

Door to door energy salesman? Should I switch energy suppliers by anachronissmoin philadelphia

[–]flat_top 9 points10 points ago

Every person I know who has done this or knows someone who has switched regretted it almost immediately. Just a hassle and you end up not saving any money and in some cases paying more.

Please help settle a dispute; Streets vs Aves vs "blocks" by indian17in nyc

Both, sometimes I roll streets and avenues into "blocks" and sometimes I specify "it's 4 blocks and an avenue away."

Best pizza in Philly by JAM13in philadelphia

[–]flat_top 11 points12 points ago*

Santuccis is one of my favorite pizzas anywhere. There's also a place on 2nd and chestnut whose name escapes me but it's a little hole in the wall slice spot, also very good. Lorenzo's is shit.

EDIT: My unknown pizza place is SOHO pizza on 2nd and Market.

What's the best bridge in NYC? by TwinAmericain nyc

[–]flat_top 4 points5 points ago

The Verrazano, just for the sheer size of it, towering off in the distance. And then driving underneath it and looking up at the towers.

And the Outerbridge just because I spent so much time on it going to my grandparents house from NJ growing up. It was just another awesome bridge when I was a kid and amazed by everything. Once I had to drive over it in my own car I grew to despise it. Oh we aren't talking about worst bridge on the east coast? Wrong thread!
