TROPHY CASE

Just depressing by KidoftheThirdin Minecraft

You could always place a sign on the wall under the diamond block (don't matter which side) as when you break the diamond block, the lava won't flow past it.

What is your most useless skill? by mnelawarin AskReddit

[–]fasteasyfree 0 points1 point ago

I can click my fingers pretty loud. So much so that I can only do it for a little while before my fingers begin to sting pretty badly.

Measuring the loudness using my phone, it tops out at around 90 dB, which according to some charts is power tool territory.

When I was a kid, I witnessed a woman burn herself to death. What is the most shocking/terrifying/traumatic thing you experienced? by laksaloverin AskReddit

He's kneeling before some masked men, and after a little speech, they grab him and start sawing at his neck. It isn't over quick, and his voice goes from screaming to a bloody gargle

I thought I was clever and immune to whatever the Internet could throw at me. Now I have to live with that haunting memory.

Did you make any plans for the beds? I've currently got a rubbish metal framed one, and was planning on building my own.

You've provided a link where the first sentence reads:

Economists disagree as to the measurable impact of minimum wages in the 'real world'.

I don't think it really supports your assurances that minimum wage 'destroys' employment.

Also, minimum wage destroys employment.

Citation needed.

Wind turbine produces 1000 liters of fresh drinking water a day out of air. by [deleted]in science

[–]fasteasyfree 14 points15 points ago

One turbine can produce up to 1,000 liters of water every day, depending on the level of humidity, temperature and wind speeds, says Janin. "This is enough to provide water for a village or town of 2,000 to 3,000 people," he adds.

So they're saying that someone in an arid climate (usually meaning hot) would be ok on 500ml of water per day?

Today I tripped and fell on a girl I liked and broke both her legs. What's the worst you've ever hurt someone? by Poopsack99in AskReddit

I very nearly had a similar thing happen to me.

It was the middle of the night and the sky was overcast. The country road I was driving along didn't have any lights, so it was pitch black. I see a car driving towards me so I pulled closer to the side of the road to give them plenty of space (you know how it is when you have a face full of headlight). All of a sudden they start flashing like crazy, so I slow down. Out of nowhere this person appears right in front of me in dark clothes. I manage to stop in time, and they've jumped onto the side of the road.

By now I know it's a woman, and I get out of the car to her screaming at me that I nearly killed her. I shout back at her and quickly ascertain that she's walking on the road because the grass on the side is wet. The stupid bitch nearly died because she didn't want dirty shoes. It's a good thing the person in the other car was paying attention.

With all the rumors of a Steam console, here's what I think would be the best move for Valve. by meatwad75892in gaming

[–]fasteasyfree 0 points1 point ago

Not if you think about it. It's probably easier, if anything, to develop the hardware. Linux is pretty different ecosystem, with as much diversity of hardware and drivers as on Windows.

Valve also said that they had no intention to develop Steam for Linux...

A laptop is definitely not the best platform for PC gaming.

I think it's a safe bet that most people own a PC. You could have spent that same $200 to make your PC game-worthy, which would last a few years - same as a console. Add the cost of Live and the price difference in games, and it's not all that clear cut.

Upgrading your Android? Buy and sell gently used Android devices with Swappa! (it's better than eBay) by swappain promos

Yeah, I'd like an alternative to 'recycling' my handset, without selling it on ebay (I just don't trust the place enough to sell stuff there).

Perhaps if the site had an international section for users?

MY PC is much quieter now its not vibrating the floor. (vibration isolator cart) by DeFexin DIY

[–]fasteasyfree 0 points1 point ago

I agree. I bought a Crucial M4 126GB a couple of months back, and it's very impressive. It was £140 when I got it, and now you can pick it up for about £115.

Prices are slowly starting to drop, though not by a huge amount.

The great thing about SSDs is that you can stick them anywhere due to the lack of vibration and any significant heat buildup. Sticky velcro FTW!

Suspend/Hibernate on system idle. by fasteasyfreein linuxadmin

[–]fasteasyfree[S] 0 points1 point ago

If nobody is logged in, there's no network activity (above a threshold that would signify an active download or rsync, for example), and there hasn't been activity on one of the ports that any web servers are listening on.

That would be about it, I suppose.
