Hey r/Guitar. i just bought a zakk wylde berserker overdrive but noticed that the design has changed on it. are there any differences from the original design aside from aesthetics? by pisobarzin Guitar

Contact Jim Dunlop/MXR directly. They would be able to tell you definitively. Manufacturers love talking about their products, and I've heard good things about customer service at Jim Dunlop. Their number is 707-745-2722.

It's a 300W head, not 1200W.

Just call Dave. He's a nice guy and would be able to get you in the ballpark. The heads can be customized, so I'd imagine there is some variance in weight from head-to-head.

One way to view gas... by insleyiin funny

[–]explodeder 0 points1 point ago

Right, but you're assuming that acquisition costs of oil are constant. They aren't.

The oil and gas industry is already trying to get oil from harder and harder to reach sources. That means it's more expensive to get oil out of the ground. Frakking for oil in oil sands is only profitable when oil is over $100/barrel. As oil gets more expensive, the alternatives look increasingly attractive.

I doubt the solution will come from the oil and gas industry. It will be someone with deep pockets and willing to take risks.

If their solution worked as a cheaper drop-in replacement for fossil fuels, money would be there instantly to scale it up. It only took about 10 years for almost none of the corn crop being devoted to fuel to more than half of the domestic corn crop becoming ethanol.

I think that this guy probably didn't have a solution that acually worked.

Sub-T is almost always painfully loud. It doesn't sound bad if they pull back on the main fader. I have no idea why they push it so hard there.

Redditors who have tattoos for a long time now - do you regret them or still think they they're awesome? by ritave72in AskReddit

[–]explodeder 5 points6 points ago

As a counterpoint to this - I have a half sleeve and a chest piece. Basically 75% of my upper body below the neck is covered with a tattoos. I got my first tattoo at 19 and am 30 now. I don't regret any of them, but at some point you have so many tattoos that they stop having to mean anything deep and personal. I look at my tattoos like a living history of me. I have a huge Deinonychus covering my chest. Does it have a deep meaning? Not really. Do I like the piece? Absolutely.

My thinking is that it's my life. Each piece is a record of a place and time, and not a memorial. As long as its well done, I like it, and artistic, then that's enough.

I kind of doubt we'll be seeing them. The role that they serve seems to be taken by Osha. I'm fine with it if they don't. I'm only a few pages into A Feast For Crows, and they are kind of one dimensional in the books.

My local K-Mart needs to get with the new decade by champ35640in gaming

[–]explodeder 24 points25 points ago

Someone on here described K-Mart as "yellow". I don't know why, but that's a perfect description. The few times I've been in there in the past decade have a yellow tint in my memory. That's not a good thing.

So, I just discovered r/DIY and thought I'd share this. In 2007, my family and I (mostly my dad) put in our own in-ground pool with an 8-foot deep end. We put a LOT of work into it and saved thousands of dollars. Here is an album of the whole process. by LogicaRexin DIY

[–]explodeder 6 points7 points ago

Most of the DIY crowd we rented to were putting in decks, leveling driveways, installing sewer pipe, etc.

We had one guy come in who had a huge pig die on him. He wasn't a farmer, but he lived in the country and had a small barn. The pig was too big that they couldn't safely get it through the entrance of the pen in the barn. So the guy took a section of barn wall down, dug a grave for the pig, rolled it into the bucket and dumped it into the grave. He did all of this with our bobcat.

Yep. The five minutes were basically showing them what each of the controls did. After an hour of using it, most people could get done what they needed to without any problems.

I worked for a tool rental company for 8 years in high school/college. We rented them to DIYers all the time. We usually gave them a 5 minute crash course. After an hour or so, most homeowners were running them like champs. Mini excavators and Bobcats aren't that difficult to operate.

Mob in hooded jackets wielding hammers and batons attack diners in restaurant in Chicago's Tinley Park by secaa23in news

[–]explodeder 15 points16 points ago

Be honest, you think putting 26 rounds into the air in a crowded restaurant is a good idea? Even if you land every shot exactly where you intend, bullet fragments go in completely unpredictable directions after it exits the human body with very little momentum lost.

In the chaos of flipping tables and innocents everywhere, bringing out a gun is probably the worst idea possible. You would be putting the lives of EVERYONE (including yourself) in that restaurant at risk.

[–]explodeder 24 points25 points ago

Or if they are willing to brazenly attack a group of people in a crowded restaurant, they might just retaliate on you for shooting one of their buddies and beat the shit out of you, take your gun, and kill you (assuming one of them doesn't pull out his concealed weapon). Either way, it escalates the situation needlessly.

You're right, they're not NPCs or zombies. You can't accurately predict their reaction.

[–]explodeder 35 points36 points ago

Except Tinley Park isn't part of Chicago, and not subject to the handgun ban.

I'm not anti-gun, but I really don't think adding one or two handguns from bystanders would have been a great idea. 20 attackers could easily overwhelm someone with a gun, putting the lives of every person in the crowded restaurant at risk.
