"A full year after significant weight loss, these men and women remained in what could be described as a biologically altered state. Their still-plump bodies were acting as if they were starving and were working overtime to regain the pounds they lost." by thaumatropiain TrueReddit

I realize that, but he was pointing out that severe catabolism doesn't elicit a rebound effect. Diets induce catabolism, so while not nearly as dramatic, the same general principle applies.

The "rebound effect" is likely caused as a result of obesity-related issues, rather than the act of coming off a deficit.

35-40% calories from protein and resistance training can help spare lbm, but you're always going to lose some. However, for most people this is going to be of negligible concern compared to the potential fat loss.

At any rate, the dieter can always increase calories and regain muscle once they've reached their target body fat %.

Individuals may have metabolic advantages or disadvantages, but clinical research clearly demonstrates that consistently expending more calories that you take in causes lipolysis and free fat oxidation.

Of course if you become severely obese you will have to deal with hormonal abnormalities and metabolic syndrome. Obesity is very likely to cause adrenal deficiency and other SNS abnormalities. One would need to diet for long enough to overcome these, which is where the whole lifestyle change comes in. You can't treat obesity by cycling crash diets, only to go back to overeating crap.

However, this hardly refutes the fact that our bodies store whatever excess calories they can't use for energy or burn off through bodyheat, and can burn off stored fats for fuel once they've been released.

If 90% of it isn't worth being said, one would question why you are still visiting.

Because it takes zero effort to "visit" this sub once you've frontpaged it, and there is still the occasional post worth reading?

Granted, I don't pay much attention to this sub anymore so it may just be me, but it does seem that the majority of posts are just cliched memes or otherwise uninteresting/unfunny.

Cycling the caffeine in an EC stack? by Chemicalmachinein Supplements

[–]ephekt 0 points1 point ago

How does ephedrine continue to work after down-regulation of the adrenergic receptors?

Does this mean one could cycle albuterol and EC without diminishing returns?

Just got prescribed Androgel (topical testosterone supplement) for low T-Levels. What do I need to know? by p0p0in Supplements

[–]ephekt 1 point2 points ago

You'll probably get a better responce on one of the steroid forums honestly.

That said, Androgel contains a pretty low dose of test, and I'm pretty sure it has a low absorption rate at that, so keep that in mind. I'd guess the potential sides would be much less than injectable test, but I'd find someone who's been on trt for a while and check.

It's unlikely that one week on/off would be effective. Your dr. should've given you a dosage protocol... but I know most people would run injectable test for 10-12 weeks.

I'd look into whether you need AIs or SERMs, and hcg for the ball shrinkage as well.

Cycling the caffeine in an EC stack? by Chemicalmachinein Supplements

[–]ephekt 0 points1 point ago

there is no need to cycle because the effects of ephedrine are maintained and even increased with chronic use (which I understand to be responsible for the continued fat burning and muscle sparing effects).

Is there any scientific proof of this? I know that other beta agonist (albuterol/clenbuterol) and alpha agonist like Yohimbine cause down-regulation of the b2/3 or alpha receptors rather quickly. I'm pretty sure it's even less than the 14 days most people cite.

I realize ephedrine is supposed to work via multiple pathways, but it seems the adrenergic receptors would be the primary pathway to lipolysis.

Not sure I'm sold on the anti-catabolic properties of any of these chemicals either. The scientific literature certainly makes no mention of it (save for clen at doses fatal to humans).

I don't know nothing about no grow room... by kizukokoroin trees

What benefit do you think this gives you over a custom tent (pvc frame with double sided visqueen hung)?

Presumably a PC grower is not in a medi state, so it seems the risk:reward would make this untenable.

Visqueen is easier to deal with imo. Best to put staple a "skirt" on the inside so the pressure of closing the door pulls it, blocking the light.

You're not going to harvest any appreciable amount from PC cases, and you'd need more than one for perpetual harvests.

You'd be better served with a small LST setup in proper sized pots.

A reasonable amount of simple carbs (chocolate milk, dextrose and whey, 1/2 serving of cereal etc) post-workout isn't necessarily a poor choice.

I find that after I've been on keto a while, I can ease into 40-50g of carbs/day, which helps if you're fairly active.

Depleting glycogen makes you crave carbs.

I don't see why it'd be dangerous if you use a spotter or power rack... like you're supposed to.

I vape before going to the gym 3-4x/week, and have been doing so for years.

Why do you take flaxseed and omega-3 pills? The flax alone should be sufficient.

I like the ground meal though... it mixes with most things with just a slight nutty taste.

Barely a paragraph of text, with no mention of diet, training program, level of intensity etc isn't really a log.

We already know which drugs are proven to aid fat loss (beta2/3-agonist, yohimbine), and they're all significantly cheaper than $80/month. Hell, actual t3 hormone is cheaper than this thyroid booster thing (not that I'd advise you taking it).

Edit: after looking over the ingredients of 1-db, I get the feeling any effects would be from the DMAA. You can purchase this from online for a fraction of the cost.

I don't actually see an ingredient list for thyrodrive, but pretty much all the natural boosters are snake oil.

These look like huge rip offs compared to beta-agonist.

I certainly can't find any non-spammy logs or reviews.

The only proven effective fat burners worth taking are stimulants and not necessarily otc.

If you're lifting, whey and creatine are always good. BCAAs to prevent catabolism if you workout fasted. Fish oil or flaxseed for omega-3s. Pretty much everything else is only going to be noticeably effective in already fit people.
