The section of the SHT from Keene's Creek to Haines Rd intersection has awesome views of the harbor and city. I am a huge fan of the sections that go out of Fond du lac on Hwy 23 south of town. Magney Snivley also has some really nice trails. For some little known ones I would check out the coggs trails.

All you have to worry about is being a bad ass. But in all seriousness it happens to me when a run a marathon or longer. I have been trying out different socks. So far drymax socks have really helped.

Most of these end with "Disappear". What does that mean? You can't just hitch hike out of town and get a job without a SSN or license in America at least. You still have to feed and cloth yourself. It isn't how do I fake my own death and then starve to death somewhere else. How does one obtain a new SSN with out an investigation. Just wondering......................

Finished my first all trail 50k a while back. My best advice is to be conscience of how fast you are going at the beginning. I was so pumped I started way to fast for me and after 22 miles it was a tough haul. I bet that I could have shaved half hour or more off my time if I hadn't gone so fast. Mine was very technical and hilly so that made it harder on shot quads. Couple things you might want to think about:

Pepto: calmed my nervous stomach.
baby wipes in a ziplock bag(much better then plan old tp)
Real food is a life saver.
I changed shoes at 24 and that felt nice.

If you aren't going to be in the top 10 I would recommend taking time in the aid stations to get everything you need. I Can't wait to try it again! Good luck and have lots of fun out there.

I have the Solomon Trail tights. Holy mother of god, best thing I have ever wrestled to get myself into. Everyone looks a me weird but you know what I don't care. Simply the best.

Have you ever tried yaktraxs on those shoes? Because they are so minimal I wonder if you would be pretty uncomfortable running with them on.

Those are the shoes that I currently run in. I run in them everyday and they are great in the snow but when I do anything over 12 miles my feet start to get cold. I did 14 a couple weeks ago in the powder and it just wasn't doing it. I am curious if an outdry or goretex shoe would fix that or if that is just something that is going to happen no matter what shoes I have. Thanks for the tip on sierratradingpost, let the shopping begin!!
