Funny you mention that.
Student loan interest is already tax deductible. You also receive pretty generous tax credits from the government for any tuition paid.

I received all my Federal Income tax back this year because of the tax credits I had saved up in College.

My comment above was more to entice doctors to stay in Canada, benefiting our healthcare system.

Med students should have their tuition completely paid for by the government, provided they practice medicine in Canada for a minimum of 20 years.

If they decide to move to the US, they can pay back all that tuition they were supposed to pay.
