I'm planning on a 2 month trip myself this summer and am trying to figure out my budget. I'm gonna leave from Santa Cruz in mid July and meander on up the coast, visiting friends and family along the way and up into Canada; maybe eventually do the Alaska - Canada highway.

Hopefully I'll be stealth camping, couchsurfing, and dumpsterdiving in order to keep costs low. Did you ever get hassled for sleeping somewhere though? I've done it on bicycles, but it's a lot easier to hide one of those than it is a motorcycle. I'll probably try and stay at punk/anarchist houses if at all possible, but that doesn't always work out.

You say that you spent a little over 2k total; any idea what percent each of your expenses was of that total? Food, gas, lodging, etc?
