TROPHY CASE

Weekly question thread: Ask /r/photography anything you want to know about photography or cameras! Don't be shy! Newbies welcome! - May 21st Edition by frosticklein photography

[–]dom085 0 points1 point ago

Best idea I saw. Yes, I'm using the Canon kit lenses and they do not have a focus indicator.

I was in dire need of this method when taking some shots of lightning. I don't have a tripod, but was able to eventually focus and it was rolling so hard that I wound up with a few good shots with the right settings at 1/100 shutter speed in continuous drive.

How does one manually focus to infinity when it's really dark out and you can't see the subject?

I've gotten lucky with a far off street light in the distance, but would like to know how to do this when I don't have that fortune.

I didn't see in the article where it stated specifically either model was released. Only the same generic "some phones" statement I've seen elsewhere.

CyanogenMod Team Chooses New “rAndy” Mascot by ThatJesterJeffin Android

[–]dom085 24 points25 points ago

That is the creepiest mascot I've ever seen. It looks like it's coming to brick my phone, eat my baby, and enslave me to work in the zinc mines for its heartless robot king.

But I don't have a better suggestion, so I guess it's okay.

LPT: make some nachos at home with legit cheese and avoid the 7-11 yellow diarrhea product. Seriously, you put that in your mouth?

The Hunger Games/District 9 crossover. Now that's a movie I'd see. by catnissin scifi

[–]dom085 14 points15 points ago

District 9 was a scifi movie with apartheid themes and an iconic image from this film was the "no aliens" signs throughout the segregated city.

The Hunger Games is a scifi dystopian future book/movie where a country called Panem, made up of 12 specialized districts, is ruled by a ruthless Capitol. Each district has their own unique main industry (eg 12 is made up of coal miners).

Tldr; there is no joke. Only vague amusement.

I've heard that you shouldn't fire an old camera that hasn't been used in a while, as it has the potential to damage some of the mechanisms if not properly lubed.

Atheist video of the year, I wonder how theists veiw it. by MarinPin videos

[–]dom085 2 points3 points ago

Because those that believe enforce their views through laws that follow a fictional book over everyone.

As an atheist, I don't care what you think, but keep it to yourself and never push it on others through discrimination and law.
