He seemed to have penty of money for the gold teeth & stylish clothes.

While I make a whopping $16,000 a year, live frugally, put in the bank what i dont need to spend on necessities, wear non-flashy clothes from walmart, cut my own hair, drive a 14 year old vehicle, AND have a life's savings.

Its all about money. Otherwise cops would be working the security jobs. But a lot of businesses dont want to pay good money for security. They want to pay a security company maybe fifteen bucks an hour to rent a security guard (who gets paid maybe eight bucks an hour).

Cops would get over $20 an hour working security.

It was interesting working security in Kansas city. The way the board of police commissioners had it set up is that any non-cop who wanted to work security had to pay about $300 a year to be a licensed security guard. While cops didnt have to. This was done to actively discourage non-cops from workjing security jobs that cops could be working. It was to keep competition away so that cops could moonlight as security & make good pay. Kansas city board of police commissioners was sued over the outrageous security guard licensing fees & they settled.

technically it IS battery. Any unwanted physical contact. Now whether you can get a cop or a prosecutor to DO something about it (charge someone) is another issue.

Note: Cops have arrested people for battery for farting on an officer.

Remember officer bubbles? I think he was threatening a protester with battery charges for blowing bubbles ... if one of the bubbles touched the officer.

I NEED CLOSURE! and proof of it.

I remember this video from a few years ago & it was the most infuriating video I have ever seen. I always wanted to know if anything ever became of it since it was captured on film.

Back then someone mentioned that the helmet the guy was using did not have an obvious camera mounted on it (that it was inside the helmet). And that is why the thief was so bold. He had no idea he was being filmed.

I remember the video you are talking about. I think it was at a transit station like a train station or subway & it was one or two girls just stomping another girl & the security guard was doing nothing to stop it.

edit: found it!

Some low-rung security guards rather have no incidents or troubles during their shift. They would rather let thieves go than try & stop them by calling the cops. Usually the thief is long gone by the time the cops get there anyway so its just all a big annoying hassle.

Some guys like excitement, though. But those types are a whole 'nother problem altogether.

I used to work security.... and i was basically there to present a visible presence & to call the cops if anything went down. Its what I called low-rung security... the lowest type of security guard you can be.

Let me explain something.... working as a low-rung security guard means you are just absolutely fucked all around. Low pay, practically no training, potentially dangerous working conditions with no way to protect yourself (you are unarmed), you can get fired at the drop of a hat if you fuck up or someone accuses you of something, you can get sued if you touch anyone... you have no protections, you have no authority... no special powers other than what a regular citizen has. Its all risk & no benefits (unless you enjoy acting like a gung-ho douchebag security guard).

Everyone hates you.... management hates you because they want you to bust heads when you legally cant and they consider you a waste of money, the public hates you because you enforce the rules of the place you are working, cops hate you because they view you as a wannabe cop who couldnt make it.

its a shit job all the way around. The only way i could do it was working night watchman jobs where I was alone all night in a locked building. I am sooooo glad I got out of the business.

edit: this video mentions what low-rung security guards cannot do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vU81qkuvcU People want you to be decent & step in, but doing so could get you sued, and paying for it for the rest of your life. Solution? Give security guards some legal protections against being sued. Like cops have.

anywhere people have been long ago. Old houses (yards), old parks, old schools etc etc...

I like to use old plat maps to see where old buildings once were. Example of a plat map. The little black squares on it represent homes or buildings on the individual properties. The names signify who owned the property.

time as in? Looking for, digging up.... or just cleaning them?

Looking for & digging up ..... is because other sought after items will signal the same as a modern penny. Civil war bullets, large gold jewelry items, small silver jewelry, gold coins, silver dimes, old two-cent coins, old twenty-cent coins ,old pennies etc etc..

As for time spent cleaning pennies (in a rock tumbler)...... because I tend to accumulate a lot of them and I want to cash them in. Its money.

I really dislike digging up pennies, but you have to dig them up in order to find some good stuff.

these are copper plated pennies made from zinc that have been in the ground for years. I found them with my metal detector. The soil will eat away at the zinc.

They have also been tumbled in a rock tumbler (with soap, water & gravel) in order to get the dirt off so they could be spent. These are the worst of the worst & unspendable.

Killing time.

Seriously most of my day is just spent trying to kill time.

A 19 year old kid squatted at AOL for two months, eating free food at the cafeteria, sleeping on couches, showering at the gym while he set up his education startup. by reddit4in technology

[–]dirtymoney 45 points46 points ago

Staying on the couches was foolish. Shoulda found a seldom-used nook and hid/slept there.

I used to work security, and when I was dead tired (from not being able to get a good sleep pattern down).... I would find a spot no one would ever find me and sleep there. If you are out in the open you will get caught. Also... you have to be aware if you snore or not... because that can give you away. One of my favorite spots was a large unused cabinet in a storage room. Another was inside the empty space that temporary walls would fold into. But the temp walls were never folded up into them. They were always kept out & used. It was a very small space... just enough room to lay down in on your side with your legs bent.

Note: laying on a hard surface... even a carpeted surface can cause body aches and even bruising. I always tried to use a jacket, pillows or other soft material to lay on to prevent this.
