So the scam has evolved... and of course the front will sign for the delivery. Thanks for the info.

I know the scam, doesn't mean it's ever been successfully pulled on me. Our AR uses 3 way, so a PO would be requred for payment.

Those guys! I know this scam. They get you to read the the model/serial numbers of the printers and send an invoice to accounts payable for a service contract renewal, and walk away with the money.

I usually string them out by saying there's a sticker on the printer that says "Mercedes" or "Ford Tough" but I don't see a brand or model number. If they don't hang up on me I spell out what I want them to put in their ass as the serial number.

Pirate Bay Enjoys 12 Million Traffic Boost, Shares Unblocking Tips by DrJulianBashirin technology

[–]didact 0 points1 point ago

Easynews only allows 20 connections, but makes up for it by allowing you to choose which provider they send your traffic out on. I had no problem maxing my 100mb/s line in college. Oh and ssl is included, good retention etc...

Google sabnzbd, sickbeard and couchpotato. You'll love the full speed downloads. Use the barebones nntp service from easynews and you will pay 10$ and can drop your vpn.

When typing a URL in the address bar is 'too slow' by RedDaggerxin talesfromtechsupport

I know it might be too much for some clients, but ask them to blindly hold windows key + r, type the URL (including www), hit enter. Boom done.

You have 270's/280's that are still alive? Holy shit batman. I guess this means you know how to use a soldering iron.

Edit: Forgot I was in /r/talesfromtechsupport I was not the first, second, or even third reply to be surprised by this.

I once witnessed a guy lose his head (literally) coming home from work...has anyone else ever been unlucky enough to see a stranger die on a street? by Kbarlowin AskReddit

The batman ride is right on the back parking lot... There's really no way to get around it if you're scaling the fence. Now walking below the tracks as well? Jackasses, they aren't hard to miss. Sorry you had to witness natural selection.

How to stop people from texting and driving... by mdbredahlin pics

[–]didact 0 points1 point ago*

A couple of comments below have alluded to learning to drive stick better, I'm going to be a bit more courteous and tell you how I work the shaft...

Starting on an incline: While pushing in the brake let your clutch out until the RPMs dip slightly, you're now putting as much torque to the wheels as an automatic does at idle. Only do this for the split second that you take your foot off the brake and begin to press the accelerator, control your RPMs until the clutch is out all the way. You will roll back a tiny bit on a steep incline like this, but no more than an automatic would. Be careful only do this while starting off or you will cause excessive clutch wear. I.E. don't balance on every incline without using the brakes.

To practice: This will heat up your clutch so to avoid excessive wear a practice session must be very short. Find an incline, drive halfway up it and use the clutch and accelerator to find the sweet spot where your car can balance at a complete stop (without using the brakes).

I have no problem starting off on pretty steep inclines with zero roll, no crazy engine revving, heel and toe tricks, ebrake or any of that bullshit.

EDIT: Some states (not Texas) have rear end collision laws that put the person behind you at fault if you roll into them. If you have a beater do it, fucking do it! The pieces that their insurance would settle for replacing (and cut you a check for if you don't replace them) generally total 5-800 bones including paint.

I don't know man, instead of telling her to put in an order and get it approved by her manager (i.e. fuck off) he went out of his way to correct the abortion she calls a workspace... I guess it depends on how you look at it.

Fuck me, I just realized I let a couple of requests rot in my queue for a month. They're starting to smell like shit, I should probably assign them back to the desk that should have done them in the first place.

I have cancer and will start chemo next month. I put on a good show for everyone but the truth is I'm very afraid. Cancer survivors of Reddit tell me your story. What am I in for? by mcduffyin AskReddit

On the food note pick a food to eat after chemo that you feel indifferent to. The blandness is going to ruin whatever you eat after chemo for the rest of your life. My father pukes in his mouth a little when he sees a chicken pot pie.

I'm along your line of thinking on this one. Toner can be messy. Glance at the instructions, done. Pull the tabby thing after you push the container thing into the slotty thing, that way you don't get toner on your wang.

Facebook says it may sue employers who demand job applicants' passwords by TheBearGentilein technology

Facebook can absolutely articulate harm. Your info is sold to consumer reporting agencies by them and the TOS protects that profit. It is in their best interest to have those costs passed down to businesses rather than having them sidestep.

AMA Request: Anyone who has been sued for pirating copyrighted material by cjacobs18in IAmA

[–]didact 0 points1 point ago

He mentioned the most plausible scenario, someone was torrenting while connected via VPN to his network. In this case the allusion to the provider scenario is appropriate. There are actual VPN providers based in the US who's business model is based arround bittorrent anonymization and they are still collecting subscriptions!

If he has hundreds of customers connected at a given time to 15 servers he's probably hosting content of some type and wouldn't have given access levels sufficient to install new software to any of the customers, as a move like that would expose the other customers to risk.

Ignoring the complaint may not have been the best move... If you are going the ignore route what do you wait for, the summons?

I think he's safe.

New TPB investigation leaked by CoffeeStewin trackers

[–]didact 0 points1 point ago

Now I'm speculating a bit here, but bear with me.

In the article they mentioned that the front end machines were comprised of CPU, Memory, NIC. That's it.

https://static.thepiratebay.org/ shows the setup of TPB... None of the servers mentioned in the server list lack hard drives so I can only assume that is their back end.

The backend includes all of the webservers needed to proxy requests, therefore these front end servers are simply proxying requests. The front end servers are scattered across the globe and the back end servers are all in one place. The datacenter they are hosting their infrastructure in probably has no idea who exactly they are hosting for. The traffic that passes to the front end servers is encrypted in some manner so even if traffic were monitored they would just look like a web farm hosting webapps for businesses.

Off the top of my head I can't think of how they get such high performance between their backend farm and the front end proxies. If you used something like TOR + a caching proxy like Squid you'd still hit a huge bottleneck because TOR blows for latency and throughput (I tested this with random searches which would not be cached). If you used VPN a warrant to monitor your traffic could point authorities to the location of the pot of gold you have serving content. I just can't wrap my head around exactly how they are passing traffic to their proxies so quickly, while maintaining obscurity.

Make her primary on all of the cards and remove your Dad from the account before he files divorce papers. Reference the reason for the divorce as an irreconcilable difference starting prior to the spree.
