I was a business major. I joined a non-major specific class because, well, business majors tend to be shitty writers. I really liked hearing from people in other majors.

I thought the class was pretty easy. Writing is not my strong point, but I got an A-. If you have any experience in any form of writing, you should be fine.

Again, I completely understand the gay community's position against an organization that has been well-documented in its anti-gay agenda and why they would perceive Chick-fil-a much differently than a straight person who just wants a chicken sandwich. I just don't understand why this is the battle that gets chosen to fight. As antmadison mentioned earlier, Taco Bell has come under fire for practices directly related to anti-gay labor discrimination. I don't think this is representative of Taco Bell, and I doubt you do, either. I think it's representative of a few backwards-minded people who will likely never have a material effect on your life.

Basically, this comes down to a free enterprise issue to me. Obviously people took enough of an exception to Chick-Fil-A to vote them down, and that's fine. I don't agree, but that's democracy in action. But to make this ruling with the caveat that the SGA is going to now investigate all the inner-workings of on campus businesses, past and future, just seems very pie in the sky to me.

While I in no way agree with Chick-fil-a's extremist positions and 100% understand the LGBTQ's position against them, I just think it's a bit myopic to view this as the defining characteristic of their business. I don't think that Northeastern trying to get a Chik-fil-a says that Northeastern supports anti-gay rhetoric, nor that Chik-fil-a looked to open this location to spread that message to Northeastern and the Boston area.

This is a company that has generated about $35bn in revenue since the turn of the millennium and has donated roughly $3m of that to anti-gay groups. The choices and beliefs of a 90-year old Southern Baptist are supposed to be representative of an entire chain and its employees? I don't buy into that.

Where do we draw the line? This is the same student center that harbors Taco Bell and Starbucks, two franchises who have checkered histories of labor rights violations. Am I to honestly believe the SGA is going to take a stand against them too? Will Northeastern cease support of Apple products because of Foxconn?
