And just one product too. All of the teams are not just on one floor all working together. Many are very far apart and disconnected from the other parts of the company.

Disneyland increases Annual Pass prices, ranging from increases of $60 - $150 by FunkyHenryGalein Themepark

[–]dawnerd 1 point2 points ago

I heard a pretty astounding stat that most of their visitors are AP holders. I don't think Disneyland has the same tourist draw that Disney World has. That said, it's pretty ridiculous how much they want. Hell, the regulars are the ones that are more likely to spend money on food and stuff since we're saving on tickets.

And you'd think they'd at LEAST give out parking for free. so it's basically 125*family members + 14 bucks.

High quality audio over 3g using Rdio uses a ton of data. So glad I'm on sprint.

For anyone who wants the source: http://www.rd.com/slideshows/slideshow-13-things-a-burglar-wont-tell-you/

Copying something from an already bad format (slideshow) then putting it into an even worse format is just lame.

250k is chump change compared to the bad press they are getting. Not to mention that the servers can be used elsewhere when the traffic dies down.

Cookie Permission Javascript for EU Cookie Law Compliance by codeDeveloprin javascript

[–]dawnerd 1 point2 points ago

Agreed. This law is completely retarded. Not only will no one actually do anything, but it kills the user experience. Browsers already have a way to block cookies.

Do you have a pet peeve with the general public's knowledge of food? What is it? by cookupastormin Cooking

If ketchup was supposed to be refrigerated then all the diners need to get on that.

Never understood this.

I do hate it. I refuse to eat it along with fish and other seafood.

I'm Making the switch from Dreamweaver to sublime 2. What all do i need to know? by ImLopshirein web_design

[–]dawnerd -1 points0 points ago

I too am annoyed by this. Sublime has actually made my life easier. I work is a very large, very complex codebase, yes I find my way around files with ease. You don't need code completion if you actually know your code. I see a lot of developers using it as a crutch rather than learning the code.

Just a FYI, that layout is terrible in safari when you scroll with the trackpad. A lot of the content is hidden.

We don't support Internet Explorer, and we're calling that a feature by magenta_placentain web_design

[–]dawnerd 0 points1 point ago

And apart from the lack of css3/etc support, it's a sign of lazy development. It's not too much extra trouble to make it work in IE9. Makes me wonder what they're using thats so advanced you can't have it degrade nicely.

And like you said, not friendly to those with a disability, which is definitely NOT a bragging right. I would be more impressed if their product was near 100% accessible. Good developers can make an awesome web app and have it degrade, lazy developers just use teh fancy stuff and call it a day.

Hell, even on a normal site ads below the fold pay less. Doesn't take much research to figure that out.

That's easy to do when your target audience is freelancers. Try doing that for a larger scale app that targets general businesses.

On a Repeatable Dev Project Setup by gthankin programming

My workflow with NodeJS projects:

git clone <some repo>
cd <some repo>
npm install

then I can run the server with very little issues if anything. Same workflow for deployment too (kinda).
