Anyone else using a Monteverde stylus pen? by space_cowboyin fountainpens

[–]dannzeman 0 points1 point ago

I own the Monteverder Invincia Stylus and really like it. I use it with my tablet and when the time comes when laptops have touch screens I'll use it nonstop.

No argument here. Definitely come back and give us your thoughts on each after you've had a chance to use them.

I need an ink that doesn't feather, bleed, and dries fast by thefrencharmyin fountainpens

A bit? Like 3 times as much as Noodlers. I agree, it's great ink, but probably not in the OP's budget and it's not 3 times the quality of Noodlers.

I would agree, DC Supershow is probably the next best alternative to Baystate.

For what it's worth, you'll be taking a chance by buying any fountain pen. I've had a $600 Delta write poorer than a $4 Hero out of the box. Bum nibs can happen to any pen manufacturer. Most will work with you to replace it if that does happen.

The 540 is very, very nice. If you right with the pen posted you should know that the cap is very heavy and tends to throw off most people who prefer to write posted.

The Studio is also a fantastic pen. If the metal section doesn't bother you then I think you'll really like it. The great thing about the Studio is that the nib will swap easily for whatever width you want. At $12 for a new nib, that's a pretty awesome.

I've always had problems with the Safari. I revisited it two different times and still can't get comfortable with it.

Picked up a Lamy Studio (L67) - My first fountain pen! by mikewinsonein fountainpens

If you're looking to improve your cursive then this is probably your best resource: http://www.spencerian.com/americancursivepromotion.html I bought the book at the LA Pen Show and it's nearly 2 inches thick. Well worth the money.

You're right, the 530 was uber cheap when it first came out. Now look at the 540, basically the same pen with a few design improvements. It cost $50 for the clear demo and $55 for the colored ones. Their prices are rising and I bet we won't see another pen from them that comes in that cheap, except maybe the Diamond Mini. I will be incredibly surprised if the Vac 700 is under $80. In all honesty, I'm preparing myself to see it at $100, which would still be a bargain.

Only your basic Pelikan M200 and M205s are $100. The M215 is $135 and the Lamy 2000 is $150 (still worth it, imo).

The point to this pen is the Micarta material. If you're familiar with knives at all you'll recognize that material. It feels really good in the hand and is incredibly durable. Also, this isn't the direction TWSBI is going. It's another direction.

In addition to the Micarta is the Vac that should be out in May, the Diamond Mini's, the Click, and the Diamond Metal 850.

TWSBI makes quality fountain pens at an affordable price with excellent customer service. And the Micarta is definitely worthy to be called a TWSBI.

Just wanted to share my heartbreak with you guys. by dannzemanin fountainpens

[–]dannzeman[S] 0 points1 point ago

It's a Limited edition Delta Turchese. I had it in my Brest pocket. I was standing packing my bag up getting ready to leave for work and I saw my iPhone cable still plugged into my computer. When I bent over to unplug it the pen fell out and landed solidly on its side onto a carpeted floor. I didn't think anything of it because it was only a 2 foot drop. But I noticed the cap was sitting a little cock-eyed and my heart sank. When I picked it up I could see a gap between the section and the ink window and with a little nudge the section came right off.

I called the guy I bought it from and he said Yafa would definitely take care of it. I'll just have to be without it for probably 8 weeks, give or take.

Pelikan M200 by VarsityMcGeein fountainpens

[–]dannzeman 0 points1 point ago

I just recently bought my fourth Lamy 2000. I sold my previous three and was really missing it. It's such a great pen. I also have two Pelikan M200's and an M600. If I was going to buy another Pelikan it would have to be either an M800 or an M1000 for their larger size. If I can only choose between the Lamy 2000 and the Pelikan M2000, it would be the Lamy 2000 every time. I wouldn't worry too much about whether the nib is gold or steel. If the tines are aligned and it's tuned properly you won't be able to notice a difference. Some of my best writing pens have steel nibs and I prefer it when I have the option of not getting a gold nib because it usually saves me about $75 or more.

Ordered this as my newb pen, am I going to regret it? by mong8sein fountainpens

[–]dannzeman 0 points1 point ago

Nope. The Kaweco Sport is a great pen. I have the maroon with a Broad nib. If the cartridge doesn't enough ink for you then you should investigate turning it into an eye-dropper.
