WoW blatantly copied tons of mechanics from its predecessors, it did not re-invent the wheel. Of course, by now its so polished and improved, that only something outside the box will have a chance of cracking WoW.

Same, almost melted a cheap charger with springloaded bays, one battery stuck out a little and touched another. Lots and lots of heat. Make sure you buy a charger that properly keeps the battery in place and that there is no chance for contact. Other things to avoid include: batteries and keys in the same pocket.

Sorry to hear that life left you somewhat down, at least monetary. I'd wager that even cash strapped funds allow for a very occasional treat, though. Use SR as a once in a while nicety, for example a weekend strain, or a "special occasion" strain.

All of the current NoSQL databases have very specific use-cases (i.e. super-high-throughput of data, high write-to-read ratio, etc.) and are by no means supposed to be a drop-in-replacement for your run-of-the-mill relational database. So I don't know why this would be disappointing to you, it does exactly what it is designed for.

Redis writes data periodically to disk, usually in a tiered way, meaning that if a lot of stuff changes in the database, data is written down more often. So a crash would probably kill some data, but most of it would have been written to disk by then.

Actually, the Chrome address bar now behaves a lot like the Awesome Bar. A year or so ago it sucked monkey balls, but it's pretty decent now.
