I solve that problem by not playing online that much. Waiting till DLC goes on sale helps as well.

Never buy a game on the release date. The value of a new game drops faster than a new car. Patience can save you 10-20 bucks in 2-3 months time. If you are truely patient or have a nice backlog, waiting 6 months to a year can save you more than half off of the game. If you buy your games through Steam, waiting for the Summer and Winter sale can stock pile you with enough games to last you inbetween each sale.

If it jumped up, you need to call and ask for a better deal. If the rep can't give you one (and they usually can't), tell them you want to disconnect your service. They will transfer you to retentions and all of a sudden, there are deals magically available.

Whatever you do, don't let her know you miss her and/or want her back. She made it clear she doesn't care about your feelings by doing what she did. She wants you to be miserable while she is having the time of her life. Don't talk to her in the first place, but if you do for whatever reason, make it clear that your life is a million times better since she left. Make her be miserable by knowing you are better without her.
