I meant, start reading the the Google search results. The Google search results show "evidence of that or of correlation between immigration and population." and some of those links also support cojoco's original statement. I wasn't ignoring the post or the context of the thread. I didn't address the second part of m0llusk statement "If anything robust immigration to the US may have prevented us from experiencing the same demographic collapse seen in Europe." which is false because Europe hasn't had a population collapse and is struggling with many of the same problems with immigration that the US is. And yes "a large percentage of immigrants in the population is an inherently bad thing" is bad depending on a number of factors. Some of which are covered in those Google search results.

Not sure about locust salt will work on some trees. Bore some large holes in the trunk and fill with rock salt.. You could trench and then keep after the runners with a lawn mower until the cut roots die. Otherwise call an agriculture extension office and ask about a specific herbicide for locust.

I wasn't making an argument to shutter the PO but that they are in a declining market and have to adapt. They can't meet their pension obligation and they will have to prune their urban services and curtail their most costly routes. Tax payers will not tolerate an antiquated business just for the sake of tradition or the convenience of a minority. I live on a rural route and can live with once a week mail service. I can also live with a half day post office. Let the cutting commence.

No what is killing the postal service is the internet. I receive 0 monthly bills anymore all my communication is online or phone. I don't use the PO anymore and neither do a lot of others. They are over built for current demand and have to scale back.

Under acute thermal stress having a large mass in the body core in which the temperature must be maintained diverts energy that would otherwise be maintaining vital organs. Bladder temperature is a lagging indicator of core temperature indicating that it is an energy sink. In situations where your body is struggling to maintain core temperature removing non productive mass can make a difference.

Emptying your bladder is taught as a cold weather survival technique. I first heard of it from a talk by Lou Whittaker in 1984. I wouldn't be surprised if there were no studies on this. I couldn't find any. From my personal experience this only an issue when sleeping below -20F.
