About to have my gallbladder removed in about an hour. by hippieschmidtin AskReddit

[–]cnnelly 1 point2 points ago

I had mine removed when I was 10 and I can say its made things a lot easier. I had six gallstones and was sick all the time.

One thing that's been a pain is my change in diet. I no longer can eat Beef or pork. Carbonated drinks cause issues, so I gave up sodas. I can't eat any kind of fried food. And be prepared for diarrhea on the reg. Despite all these things, I live a much healthier life now, and feel soooooo much better without my gallbladder!

Recovery from surgery isn't that bad..I did it as a 10 year old..I think you can handle it. Good luck!

What is the first childhood memory you can recall? by bokbokin AskReddit

[–]cnnelly 1 point2 points ago

When I was around three I would take big chugs of my dads beer whenever he left the room. I remember knowing that it must be delicious if my dad drinks it but I'm not allowed to have it.

I just told him of this recently and his response was " that explains why you were such a weird kid..you were drunk most of the time"

Have you ever been friends with someone who cheated on their SO? How did it affect your friendship? by lifesurfeitin AskReddit

[–]cnnelly 8 points9 points ago

I was dating a guy for 7 years and during that time him, his best friend, and myself became very close and became good friends. My ex and his best friend were friends for a long time before I came into the picture, but during those 7 years I became good friends too with the best friend.

My ex cheated on me, told me, I broke up with him on the spot and was devasted that my relationship ended and my friendship with his best friend would be over as well. The next day I get a call from the best friend saying that he was so disgusted by my ex that he could never talk to him again. It's been two years and they haven't spoken since and the best friend and I are even better friends now.

What is the most brainless or reckless thing you've done? by Wabbajackerin AskReddit

[–]cnnelly 0 points1 point ago*

My roommate freshman year of college was big into piercings and tattoos and we both had talked about getting our nipples pierced. So one weekend she goes home and gets it done. When she comes back she says her friend who does piercings would do it for me for free if I bought the jewelry. I agree and the next weekend we go and roll up at this dudes house. I was confused and thought we were just meeting him and then we would go to the tattoo shop for my piercing.

I was wrong. In a room full of people I didn't know, I whipped my boob out and let him pierce it right on his couch in his living room.

I praise baby Jesus everyday that I didn't get hep C, because looking back that was REALLY stupid. Hurt like a bitch too.

One year ago I got out of an 8 year relationship, feeling lost. by I_Farted_So_Hardin BreakUps

[–]cnnelly 2 points3 points ago

I feel EXACTLY the same as you except I'm female and my 7 year relationship ended two years ago. I also have done a lot of work on myself since my relationship. I have a great job, I'm working on getting into grad school, I have a great core of friends, I've picked up new hobbies and activities. But I too, still feel lost and feel like these obviously great things...aren't that wonderful.

I feel happy more than I feel sad. But every once and a while I feel a complete hopelessness. Like it doesn't matter what I do, because frankly, what's the point.

And some of the conclusions I've come up with are that when I relationship that deep and long ends..its like a death. The old you dies, your old life dies and in many ways I acted like my Ex died. This was a very difficult thing to process at the end of my relationship and in a lot of ways..it still is.

You have to work through these feelings and feel the way you feel for a while. I wish I could tell you it will be a short time of feeling this way, but it probably won't be. It will take you longer because you loved for so long. Keep doing what you're doing. We'll both get there eventually!

Boyfriend continues to run things on his time though he has more free time. by Mix4urmixtapein relationships

[–]cnnelly 4 points5 points ago

It seems like you feel like he doesn't respect your time. You work on a schedule, he works on a lack of one. I can understand why this would be frustrating..but..he probably doesn't even realize he's doing it. This is where communication comes in. Communicate how busy you are, how stressed you are, and how he needs to understand that you don't have all the time in the world.

Open up conversation on what you want. Talk and listen. This will keep you from getting overly angry with him and save you a lot of heartache.

My brother in law once told me that I was "the problem with America" over a argument in which I thought that ESL students should be provided language support in schools. Oh really? The college educated, graduate student, special education teacher is the problem with America?

His ignorance in general makes me pissed but this comment was my breaking point. Thank god I only have to see him on some family gatherings!

I love this. Start a new relationship with myself. I'm so worried that I'll never be fully ready to be with someone again, when really I should be more worried about how I feel about me. Thank you.

The older I get, the less I believe in things. I've slowly become a girl who doesnt believe in faith, fate, true love, or that "everything happens for a reason". Its slightly depressing.

What's the weirdest thing you've ever found yourself telling a pet? by menwithrobotsin AskReddit

[–]cnnelly 90 points91 points ago

I'm an elementary school teacher, one morning I had finished eating cereal and I placed the bowl on the coffee table. My cat immidately jumped up to drink the milk from my bowl. Without even looking up I said "make better choices!" and he stopped and jumped down.

I think I spend way too much time with children.

My grandfather yelled "Fuck you!" at Frank Sinatra. What's the coolest story a past generation has shared with you? by Mewshimyoin AskReddit

[–]cnnelly 1 point2 points ago

My grandfather grew up with frank Sinatra and they were long time friends. Right when frank made it big, he would buy cars and have my grandfather deliver them as gifts to franks parents. They didn't like that he was in the entertainment business and always sent the cars back. Right before my grandfather got married, my grandma said he had to separate from frank due to his mob ties.

Years later, frank came to DC, my dad ( being secret service) got them all the way to the front of the stage to try and get his attention. Due to the band, Frank never heard them trying to call his name. Would have been amazing if he had
