Why, Google? by vuxanovin Design

[–]citizenzaqx 0 points1 point ago

Here's why I asked:

"Install Photoshop CS1, Illustrator CS2, Dreamweaver CS3, InDesign CS4, Premier CS5, and Audition CS6, then put all the icons on your desktop and tell me with a straight face they belong together."

That statement bears no relevance to the lack of similarity in the icon design of these 4 google apps.

///

Here you appear to be agreeing with me just before resorting to insult:

"Why would you expect 4 up to date google apps to be as different than CS products spanning years?"

Want to be a little more specific/coherent?

I'm confused. Are you actually expecting programs between different versions of CS spanning nearly a decade to be highly consistent with each other?

Someone posted this on Facebook, and it really makes me want to rewatch the series. Should I do it? by Macrzin lost

No. There are more amazing things to discover than you literally have time in your life to experience. Lost is an interesting show but there are other interesting things out there.

Umani is alright but it's not Father's Office, 8 oz, or Houston's.

OP, I'd recommend checking out 8 oz.

Notice how the wheels are set in concrete? This is part of a museum in Vietnam, if I'm not mistaken.

I don't have much issue with the segregation. It's just a little weird that there doesn't seem to be much effort going into making the shared interfaces between the programs actually shared.

For translating colors from web? I can't claim to be an expert in publishing but I'd be surprised if there weren't some valid usecases out there for needing to convert a web color to a print color.

It's pretty terribly put together but at around 1:25 they mention a distinction between should zipper merge and shouldn't zipper merge that is really where your argument is I think.

Let's take this to an extreme so that you can understand.

Say you have ten miles of road before the lane ends. Does it make sense for all traffic to immediately move over to the other lane? No, in that case you would have a massive increase of traffic in the remaining lane for the next ten miles with an empty lane next door.

Using the zipper method you keep traffic at a minimum everywhere for as long as possible and everyone gets where they're going that much faster.

If you're still set in your ways, maybe the Minnesota Department of Transportation can help.

Use Flexbox.

It is the simplest most maintainable way to solve this problem. For older browser support use a polyfill.

Here's a polyfill for flexbox: http://flexiejs.com/

Can someone tell me how Facebook correctly guessed the location where I took my photos? I provided no text or comments with the photos other than the album label "Switzerland." by xsidekick409in web_design

[–]citizenzaqx 0 points1 point ago

Likely answer: You uploaded images that you took on a mobile phone or other camera that has access to and places GPS data in the metadata of the photo.

Not as likely answer: They used image recognition algorithms on the photos you let them have.
