One of the Better Universal RP Systems by JumpJaxin rpg

[–]cepheus42 0 points1 point ago

T.O.R.G. Could be complicated at times, but was THE best universal rule system ever. In my opinion of course. :) Also created by the same company who originated the d6 system.

With Space X and private spaceflight, what about all that NASA spending? by gsammonin space

[–]cepheus42 0 points1 point ago

That's alright. Folks really don't understand yet how little margin there is in space explorations. SpaceX is working hard to chip away at the massive overhead to produce viable commercial space enterprises, but right now they are little more than a NASA contractor. Once space flight becomes cheap and reliable, there will be tons of competitors. SpaceX is hopefully the first major step in reaching that goal.

Reddit, please share your failures during sexy time to make me feel better about mine. by BadBJManin AskReddit

Ummm... don't worry about it so much. Almost no woman ever got me off that way. Some of us just don't have orgasms via oral sex that much. Get him nice and wet... then climb on and ride, let him finish that way. :-)

Who do you think funded SpaceX? Yep... NASA. In time there will be enough profit for private companies to really take over space exploration, but for now it still requires gobs of government funding (but private contractors are cheaper than massive government programs and can ramp up more quickly and do much more innovative things).

Are Progressives Ruining The Democratic Party For Years To Come? by MrEverettin AskReddit

[–]cepheus42 0 points1 point ago

Progressives? It's the conservatives in the party who are ruining it, turning them into the Republican-light party. More great taste, but less filling!

Progressive politics are the cornerstone of America. The Constitution was one of the most progressive documents ever created. Let's never forgot those facts.

Unexpected voyeur. Creepy or Not? Anything like this happen to you? (NSFW) by mackinoncougarsin AskReddit

Creepy is walking up to the window, testing to see if it's locked, opening it from the outside, adjusting the shades so you have a better view, taking a video and posting on the internet.

You just did what any normal person did... watched someone being an exhibitionist. Your female only thinks it was creepy because it wasn't a hot stud for her to feast her eyes on.

Why is getting a small auto loan such a pain in the ass? by THIS-MAKES-ME-MOISTin AskReddit

Ah, sorry... though you said cash. :)

Why is getting a small auto loan such a pain in the ass? by THIS-MAKES-ME-MOISTin AskReddit

[–]cepheus42 3 points4 points ago

Getting any loan these days is a pain in the ass. The banks screwed up, now everyone else has to pay.

Course, if you have that much in cash assets... why would you want an f'ing loan? Buy it outright, and tell their finance company and their "by the time you finish paying for this car, you'll have paid four times what its worth" plan to stick it.

Help me fall in love with history by yellow_gatoradein booksuggestions

Here's a list for you: http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/290.Best_American_History_books

In particular, the first three books are really great. I also loved the "Lies My Teacher Told Me" book, which corrects many falsehoods we learn in grade school. "The Civil War" by Shelby Foote is the definitively history of the war, and derives (or inspired) the Ken Burns series.

How much to charge for a short story (~25,000) by WoefulKnightin writing

[–]cepheus42 5 points6 points ago

$2.99

Don't sell it short. 25,000 words is novella length. Even crap short stories of 7,500 words go for $2.99 on KDP. And if you sell for LESS than $2.99, you can only take the 30% profit deal. $2.99 or higher allows you to take the 70% profit margin.

I met a girl in a club and she agreed to be tied-up, but when she saw the rope she ran out of my place, naked, and woke up my neighbor. [x-post from r/tifu] by shamefullFailurein Bondage

[–]cepheus42 30 points31 points ago

Nope. You shouldn't. Everyone likes kink, but what you like and what your neighbor likes are different. She might like going to clubs and sucking off strange men in the restroom. Don't let HER sense of what is moral and righteous affect YOUR sense of the same. The girl over reacted, you have nothing to be ashamed about. Jesus, get a hold of yourself and tell them to fuck off, it's your life, and you do what you enjoy.

Which would you buy for ~$30k? '92-'93ish NSX or early C6 Corvette? by PenisWrinklein cars

[–]cepheus42 1 point2 points ago

For 30K you can get a Corvette C2 runner with some needs. That's the route I would take, but admittedly for me it's not all about the speed and handling, it's about the cool factor and the look of the car.

Does using imgur to look at NSFW things hide what I'm doing from IT or am I kidding myself? by Girricanein AskReddit

[–]cepheus42 0 points1 point ago

Oh, absolutely. Back when I was a tech, I was helping a secretary get on her boss' computer because he needed a file while he was on the road. She knew it was an image file, but not the name, and after we got logged in as an admin we started going through his profile. Yeah... we found some porn, and she started yelling "close it, close it, close it!" and then walked out of the office. I had to report him, he was reprimanded, it was a whole huge thing. Felt bad, he was a nice guy everyone liked, but my hands were tied at that point. If I had find it by myself, no problem, but the involvement of another person, particularly a woman, made it an issue that I had to escalate to cover my own ass.

Depends on what type of filtering they are doing. We have 5,000 employees, so ours is a simple hard block with warning message. They are doing a study right now of traffic with one small group to determine if they can better shape traffic by blocking other sites, but when we've gone to the networking group to deal with complaints about specific users useage, their answer is "it's too much hassle to try and weed out traffic for one user, and you can't tell how long they sat on a site, only how often they hit a link."

Again, that probably depends on what tools the department has to use for these purposes.

[–]cepheus42 2 points3 points ago

I work IT, so I can speak to this directly. First, yes, they COULD if they really wanted to check every single website you are viewing. However, most companies never bother, because the volume of web traffic is so large they would spend a week just analyzing every single link everyone has gone to in a single hour to figure out what is bad and what is legitimate. They might institute some sort of filtering or blocking system to weed out traffic by specific tags, like porn, but since imgur isn't necessarily porn it won't get blocked (not all the time... our filters at work are good enough that they do sometimes pick up the tags people apply to a photo or the words they use to describe it and block the content anyways). There's just not enough resources to handle checking every single users web useage.

The only time most IT departments take an interest in what a specific user is doing is if there is a complaint or a reason given to do so (ie, performance problems, too much time on internet, etc.). So, really... you're probably pretty safe, don't sweat it.
